🎾 WOW… what a day! 🎾

Today has been spent working through an incredible number of emails, messages and enquiries from people looking to start their tennis journey with Tennis is Served.

It’s fantastic to see so many children, families and adults wanting to get involved in our sport. Whether it’s the excitement of Queen’s, the anticipation of Wimbledon, or simply a desire to try something new, tennis is capturing people’s imagination right now – and we love to see it! 💜

From our youngest players taking their first steps on court in Tots Tennis (from age 3), through to Mini and Junior squads, Performance Tennis and Adult Coaching, we genuinely have something for everyone at Shotley & Benfieldside Tennis Club

The countdown is on for the Durham & Cleveland Senior County Closed 2026, with entries closing on Saturday 20th June.

If you haven’t entered yet, now is your last chance to be part of one of the county’s premier competitions. Whether you’re aiming for a title, looking to test yourself against strong opposition, or simply want to enjoy competitive tennis, we’d love to see you involved.

📅 Key Information
• Semi-finals & Finals: 15th–16th August 2026
📍 Durham Archery, Clay Lane, Margery Lane, Durham City
• Earlier rounds (up to and including quarter-finals) will be arranged between opponents at mutually agreed dates, times and venues
• If agreement cannot be reached, the referee will make the final decision
• Players may enter a maximum of three events due to scheduling restrictions on Finals Weekend

⚠️ Please only enter if you are available to play on 15th–16th August 2026.

🏆 Prizes
Trophies will be presented at the annual County Awards Night on Saturday 6th February 2027.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and joined us for our BBQ yesterday! 🌭🍔☀️

We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. There may be one or two sore heads about (ours included! 🤣), but we’re calling that a successful fundraising effort for the bar! After all, it’s important to support all areas of the club… and some of you took that responsibility very seriously! 🍻😂

A special thank you goes to all of our volunteers and committee members who worked so hard behind the scenes to pull everything together. Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without your time, effort and dedication.

It’s always such a joy to see so many families and members coming together, enjoying themselves, and making great memories at the club. Seeing the courts, clubhouse and grounds full of laughter and friendly faces is what SBTC is all about. ❤️🎾

🎾 COUNTY CUP COMEBACK WIN! 🎾

In a tense and high-quality County Cup match, the Durham & Cleveland Under 11 Girls team produced a superb comeback to defeat Leicestershire 4-3.

With the tie finely balanced, the match was ultimately decided by a dramatic 10-point match tiebreak in the final rubber, with Durham & Cleveland holding their nerve to secure a fantastic victory.

This important win strengthens Durham & Cleveland’s position in the County Cup and maintains their momentum heading into the next round of fixtures.

Congratulations to all the players on a hard-fought win, showing great determination, resilience, and team spirit throughout the match. 👏💙

🎾 Social Tennis: 2.00pm – 4.00pm
🍔 BBQ & Family Fun: From 4.00pm onwards

Join us for an afternoon of social tennis followed by a fantastic BBQ and fun games on and around the courts for all ages.

🔥 The BBQs will be lit from 4.30pm, with our expert BBQ Masterchefs preparing:
• Burgers
• Sausages
• Kebabs
• Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options

🍻 The bar will be open all day, serving draught and bottled beers, lagers, ciders, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

Following the huge success of our May half-term camps, we’re delighted to announce that our Summer Tennis Camps are now open for booking at Shotley & Benfieldside Tennis Club

Our camps are always incredibly popular, offering children the perfect mix of tennis, games, fun activities, and the chance to make new friends in a safe and welcoming environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy some competitive tennis, challenge yourself against a strong field of players, and be part of one of the county’s premier competitions.
