Movements not muscles.
I stick by this when I programme workouts for clients. This way I can ensure that more muscles are exposed to growth/use during the training week.
Then, ultimately you will gain strength, muscles mass and a better body composition as a by product of training with purpose and direction alongside nailing the non negotiable aspects outside of the training hour.
Whether it be a full body workout, upper push, upper pull or even an overall circuit/conditioning session. All basis of movement are considered.
Starting with compound movements and into accessories that are relevant to help progress overall strength and fitness.
The reason I love functional training isn’t just because it allows you to feel, perform and move better in the gym but transfers across to help in day to day life.
That weighted carry, anti rotation core exercise and holding a stick above your head that you perform in the gym with me, why?
Well, I bet outside of the gym you can now carry more shopping, pick up heavier items without injuring your back, have better mobility to reach for high items, play with the kids without losing your breath - to name a few!
Everything has relevance. That’s why training makes you feel and be BETTER. Not just in the gym, but out of it.
