Founded in 1892, Sussex Yacht Club is one of the oldest and largest yacht clubs in the UK. Based in Shoreham-by-Sea on the River Adur, we’re home to a thriving community of sailors, rowers, divers, and watersports enthusiasts. Whether you’re new to the water or an experienced hand, SYC offers something for everyone — from RYA-accredited training courses and competitive racing, to cruising, rowing

with Shoreham Outriggers, diving with BSAC, and social events year-round. Our clubhouse boasts stunning views of the river and coastline, with Stow’s Restaurant & Bar providing the perfect spot to relax after time on the water. With modern facilities, a welcoming atmosphere, and opportunities both ashore and afloat, SYC is more than just a yacht club — it’s a community.

⛵ As we enter the final chapters of the 2026 Royal Escape Race, we're taking a moment to reflect on what has been another fantastic year for this historic event.

From the start line in Brighton to the finish in Fécamp, it has been a pleasure to welcome competitors from near and far to celebrate the race 🌊⚓

This Saturday evening, we'll come together once again to celebrate the achievements of the fleet at the official prize giving ceremony 🏆🎉

And while the 2026 race may be drawing to a close, preparations are already underway for something very special... 👀

The 50th Anniversary Royal Escape Race is on the horizon, and we can't wait to share what's in store.
