Founded in 1892, Sussex Yacht Club is one of the oldest and largest yacht clubs in the UK. Based in Shoreham-by-Sea on the River Adur, we’re home to a thriving community of sailors, rowers, divers, and watersports enthusiasts. Whether you’re new to the water or an experienced hand, SYC offers something for everyone — from RYA-accredited training courses and competitive racing, to cruising, rowing with Shoreham Outriggers, diving with BSAC, and social events year-round. Our clubhouse boasts stunning views of the river and coastline, with Stow’s Restaurant & Bar providing the perfect spot to relax after time on the water. ⛑️Could First Aid at Sea be one to tick off your list this year?⛑️

Our final RYA First Aid at Sea course of 2026 is taking place on Sunday 25th October.

It’s a practical and useful course covering how to respond to medical situations at sea, giving you skills and knowledge that could make a real difference when you’re out on the water.

The best part? Once completed, your RYA First Aid Certificate is valid for three years, so it’s something you can tick off and have covered for the seasons ahead.

If you’ve been meaning to get around to it, this is your final opportunity to do it this year!
