I am the local funeral director being the third generation of R. Locke & Son at Brailes, Kineton, Wellesbourne and, as of earlier this year, Shipston-on-Stour.

I enjoy sport, physical activity and relish a challenge including mountain biking, road cycling, skiing, snowboarding, SUPing, running, and have recently started to attempt wing foiling.

After feeling very unfit and unhealthy after Covid, I have become a regular with Shipston Personal Training who are hosting this charity Fight Night.

Having never sparred—or even watched a ‘game’ of boxing before—this event seems like the perfect new challenge.

I am fighting to raise funds for Shipston Community First Responders—a charity I’m hoping not to need on fight night, but one we could all be thankful for in a time of crisis. This volunteer-led team responds to 999 emergencies, delivers CPR and defibrillator training, and manages over 60 Community Public Access Defibrillator Cabinets across the area, many equipped with Major Bleed Kits. Their work saves lives every day, and I’m proud to be stepping into the ring in their support.

Please give generously.

I am the Fighting Farmer! Born, bred and married into the agricultural industry. I have been a self employed labourer working on many farms since the day I left school.
It comes with some challenges. Starting in my early 20’s with back issues. I have had to make some difficult decisions. I have had to stop my shearing rounds, reduced the hours I sit in the tractor, missed my First Harvest (I’ve found that a big mental challenge in its self) and finally I had to give up playing hockey for the amazing Shipston Ladies.
With the thanks to Emma & Marc for fixing my back and helping me get back fit and strong I am now ready for a new challenge to step in the ring and push myself through different boundaries (that is not a night shift in a lambing shed alone).
I want to raise money for the R.A.B.I who are a charity that supports anyone in the agricultural sector with struggles and worries of the day to day life in farming. They can offer financial, practical and emotional support.

Please give generously.

Here's Matt and his reason for entering our Charity Event.

"I was born in Peterborough and have lived in various places around the country. In 2018 I settled in Shipston on Stour with my wife and 2 children.

Early 2024 I qualified as a Personal Trainer through Shipston Personal Training and have absolutely loved delving into the world of fitness.

I have previous experience in sparring from my kickboxing days as a youth. As part of my PT practice at Shipston Personal Training, I teach a beginner’s kickboxing fitness class.

Supporting Shipston Personal Training’s quest to raise awareness and help families who are touched by Motor Neurone Disease, I’ll be stepping into the ring to help raise money for these amazing causes. Please donate generously to see me get punched!"

Any donations to the Motor Neurone Disease Cause that Shipston Personal Training is supporting will automatically receive a streaming link to watch the event live from wherever they are.

This is Mike!

"My name is Mike and I run The Bell at Shenington.

Being a chef/publican doesn’t always lend itself to positive choices regarding health, diet and alcohol intake.
As I am getting older I am really starting to feel the effects of these choices.

Choosing to participate in the fight night will hopefully motivate me to get fitter and shift a bit of beer belly while at the same time raising money for a great cause in KHH.

It will also potentially provide the opportunity to punch some of my customers. Something that is generally frowned upon during opening hours."

Meet Shelley.

"I have never been one of those people who loves working out – sweating buckets and calling it “fun” has never been my thing!
Then in June 2024, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphatic Leukaemia. It was terrifying at first, but once I got my head around it, I decided to take control – eat better, move more, and most importantly, stop feeling “vulnerable.”
So I took up kickboxing, partly to avoid the gym, but mostly to feel strong again. I absolutely loved it! Each session made me stronger, not just physically but mentally too.

Now I am stepping into the ring to raise money for Blood Cancer UK. Please support me by hitting the donate button – every punch, bruise, and bead of sweat will be worth it!"

Please give generously.

Here is Andy & his reason for competing.

"I’m 52, an engineer, and about as fit as a rusty spanner — so what better idea than to get punched for charity?
I’m stepping into the ring to raise money for Katherine’s House Hospice, a brilliant charity that provides comfort and care when it’s needed most.
I’ll be wobbling around the ring for a cause far tougher than me, so please sponsor generously (before my doctor finds out!).
If I make it past the first round, it’s officially a miracle worth donating to!"

Please give generously.

As our Charity Client Fight Night fast approaches, here is Chris & his reason for competing.

"A few months ago, I must have subconsciously decided that it was time I had a midlife crisis. I can’t afford a Porsche, and being short, bald, and pug-ugly, a mistress was out. The only option left was to join PTSOS and start boxing training. The natural extension of that, of course, is to sign up to fight—so that’s what I’ve done.

I find that I’m regularly asking myself, What am I doing here? “It’s for charity,” I keep telling myself. And I am taking the training seriously—really, really—but if I’m still standing after three rounds, I shall be one of many people in the room who will be a little surprised.

So please give generously. These are excellent charities that don’t waste your donations on plush offices and expensive salaries"

Chris is right, please do give generously. Any donations to the Motor Neurone Disease Cause that Shipston Personal Training is supporting will automatically receive a streaming link to watch the event live from wherever they are.
