The club has evolved over the past few years and we have taken the opportunity to review and tweak the ride format, making sure the club is offering its members the best choice of group rides.
EASY SUNDAY (first Sunday of each month)
The first Sunday of each month will be the ‘Easy Sunday’ ride. The route on these weeks will be our easier routes (the shorter and / or flatter routes in our calendar), and the pace will be at the more relaxed end of normal effort. For those who attend our normal weekly rides, where possible we will schedule a leg buster the week before (last week of the month)… i.e. expect something like Steggy to be at the end of the month and Windsor to be at the start of the month. In addition to this monthly Easy Sunday, the regular weekly rides will be open to riders to join for part of the ride as they build pace and endurance. For example, riders can join for the first hour only as they build their endurance and pace.
The weekly ‘SUNDAY SOCIAL’ ride format is as follows:
* Social Ride (c.15mph for c. 45-50 miles): If you are looking for a regular social pace ride, our Social Ride is a weekly ride of around 45-50 miles at a pace comfortable for most people with some fitness on the bike. This is a key group for new members looking to join the club and is a good introduction to club riding.
* Club Ride (c.16.5mph for c.50-55 miles): Those who club ride regularly can build the natural pace and endurance that this group caters for.
* Swift Ride (c.18mph for c.55-60 miles): Stepping up from the Club Ride, the Swift Ride is for riders with that extra kick of pace often from putting in a few extra training rides during the week.
* Fast Ride (19mph+ for c.60-65 miles): The Fast Ride is the quickest of our Sunday Social rides and has proven to be popular with a strong core of members who train regularly and are able to sit around 30kph+ for 100km.
Distances are a guide only and for the summer normal weeks. In winter and inclement weather rides may be shortened and we will continue to offer periodic special rides to offer a challenge or something a bit different (Isle of Wight, Stonehenge and other similar rides).
We are looking forward to seeing you out on a ride soon. Keep an eye out for some new routes that are being added to the rotation.
Thanks
