Had a lovely 2nd day at Blenheim Palace., completing another 2 Sprint Triathlons in the Weekend Warrior event. The weather was much nicer today and despite doing 3 triathlons yesterday, today my mind and body felt fresher and ready to race.
In the end I completed 5 sprints and had a fantastic weekend. 🏊🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Thank you to .bolton.22 once again for being transition buddy and and Isabelle for looking after Georgie dog all weekend👍🏼

Bit of a grim day racing at Blenheim Palace today, taking part in the weekend warrior. This is where you try and do as many sprint triathlons as you can over the weekend. As soon as you finish one tri, you run straight to swim start to do another race. Today I completed 3 sprint triathlons 🥇🥈🥉 This year we were joined by Johnny Brownlee, who was trying to set a record by doing the most sprints in a weekend.
Thanks to my amazing transition buddy and supporter .bolton.22, who did and amazing job, meeting me at swim start and helping me swap my running kit for my wetsuit, and setting up all my bike, shoes other kit and nutrition in transition. Let’s hope for better weather tomorrow 🤞

💥Match Win💥and qualified for the final💥89 lb💥
Change of scenery today and a change of fortune ✅ Fished the RDAA Supercup Qualifier 2026 at Willmotts Pool. Drew peg 14 which meant nothing to me as only ever fished a couple of times before over a year ago. Guy next to me said you’ll foul hook and lose loads of fish, so I thought I’d fish shallow with caster, where I should hook them in the mouth and a meat line on a top two and three sections.
Started on the meat and hooked a decent 8lb mirror early on to settle the nerves. Then caught a few more, slow and steady just feeding 4 cubes of meat at a time to make sure I didn’t get too many fish in the peg and foul hookers.

It slowed up after an hour so I looked shallow at 13m where I’d been pinging caster for an hour. No signs so I reached for a deck rig and caught a couple of carp and a tench on the deck with double caster. Then I missed a few bites and decided they were coming up in the water and went shallow again and boom had one. I then caught steady shallow. After 2.5 hours they weighed our fish in as the weather was so hot and I was leading with 40 lb 1 oz.
In the last half of the match I just kept it steady and caught another 49 lb. The fish wanted it hanging and you’d get one about a minute after feeding a pouch of casters.
I weighed in 89 lb in total for the win and a place in the final later this month. 85 lb was 2nd on the day from peg 1.

I may need to have a couple of practice sessions before the final 😊🎣

Had 4 lovely days fishing at Tunnel Barn Farm. Sunday was a practice match, (badly needed) then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was the Over 50’s Festival.

Sunday Practice Peg 4 New Pool.
Wanted to practice fishing the worm and maggots short as they seem to be working well at the moment. Ha d 47 lb 5 oz and learnt a bit.

Monday Day 1 peg 2 House Pool
Reasonable peg, but bad draw is in with 4, 6, 8, 29, 31 and 33 which are all better pegs. Weighed 67 lb 15 oz for 3 points. Caught most fish short on maggots.

Tuesday Day 2 42 High Pool 😩
Actually really enjoyed the match as had to think and work the peg out.
Had an F1 on the method to start, then caught some at 7?sections in about 7ft of water, on casters worm. Then caught a few either side short on maggots. Lastly had a few fish down the edge on maggot over groundbait. Weighed 41-12 for 2 points which I thought was good from that peg in the section.

Wednesday Day 3 Peg 44 New Pool
Another new peg to me, never fished any of them before. Caught a few down the middle on maggot and then maggot and groundbait down the edge. Weighed 50 lb 2 oz for a section win ✅

Ended up with 6pts for 20th place out of 123 fishing. 🙌

Really enjoyed the festival as the fishing has been different to previous years when I have caught lots of fish shallow. This year’s been more maggots short and some worm fishing, so lots to learn for me. The biggest shortcoming, has been only catching 1 or 2 lb of fish in the first two hours. If I could catch better in the first two hours I’d certainly be moving up the overall places. Nevertheless, still managed to collect £100 in winnings.✅

Thanks to a great fishery and Sarah and her team. Roll on next year ✅🎣

Lovely day racing Ironman 70.3 Alcudia Mallorca today. It’s the 5th time I’ve done this race and it never ceases to amaze 💙Today the weather was very moody and windy which made the swim and some of the bike “character building”. 😩 Definitely the hardest conditions I’ve raced in here. The bike was as exhilarating as usual, with its 3,000 ft climb over 10k of non stop climbing, and its technical hair-pin descent. 🩷

The event came around so quickly this year and I did very little endurance triathlon training for it, for I have been doing hyrox training and events, so I am very pleased to get through a long day at the office, especially after doing a hyrox singles, in Cardiff only 6 days ago. Lovely to race for a proper medal again, none of these mickey-mouse velcro patches 🤣
Time for a shower, a nice meal and some beers 🍺 🩵.

Great racing today, doing my second hyrox singles at the principality stadium Cardiff. Really enjoyed this one much more than London. Little bit slower today 2:06:17 reflective of a change over to triathlon training, in recent weeks, and taking it steady, as I have a big event next Saturday. Happy days ✅💥💪🏼🏋️‍♀️🏀🏃‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
