So last night was my first race with the B6.2 at our local track.

Car worked really well and we only made one change all night taking TQ and the win in the A final - my first ever!

Big thanks to Ian Littley at Penn Models for supplying our kit and his setup tips - looking forward to our next meeting 👍

So our first ever British Grand Prix weekend is over but what an event it was !

firstly a massive thanks to Silverstone Model car club for putting on amazing event and a fantastic location (and a bouncy castle, gaming van and a 22 man table football which was good fun!)

The track has some great features with the 2wd being especially tricky while the 4wd was a more flowing layout

Racewayone were also live streaming and taking some fantastic photos of the event which can be found on their page - well worth a look.

Overall our qualifying both days was good with our cars needing minimal changes and we made p77 out of 176 in 2wd and p47 out of 122 in 4wd - this is our best ever in what essentially is a national event.

unfortunately the races were a bit of mess from our point of view being knocked back to last in 2wd but making p5 at the end so still going forwards from p10

4wd we were taken out at the start from p3 and then unfortunately got stuck under a jump which cost us a lap and with a broken wing we sadly had to DNF but still a very strong showing for only our second race on carpet with the B74 which worked perfectly with the setup we were given from the AE team. Thanks guys.

(We won’t mention dad with the truck as he showed why he wrenches instead of races these days 😂)

Nice to see our friend Jonathan Murphy take the short course truck win - that’s why he’s the champ 🍾

Now it’s time to put the outdoor setups back on and get ready to resume the MAM series in a couple of weeks 👍

Spot of club racing last night at Midlands Raceway. Worked on the rear of the car to make it more stable and had two good heats and two not so good heats (Dad changed the car for the worse 😜). This meant a P4 start in the A final.

After a good opening lap was running in p2 with Jamie Beasley bearing down on me. Gave him a bit of battle for p2 before I nosed it into the pipe but still came home for a podium despite the rear tyres being almost bald by the end 😂The weekly racing is now starting to come together.....

We were also happy to lend our spare car to a young racers when there car released the genie - he seemed very confident and managed to improve by almost two laps by the nights end - well done Oliver 👍

A final can be watched on our new YouTube channel

Next week it’s the last race before Xmas at the Buggy blitz

Started p4 but rear tyres were bald hence the diffing our but managed a p3 overall so happy with that 👍

So yesterday Ethan raced at round 3 of the silverstone winter series on the very high grip carpet which had some tricky features especially the jump section in front of the rostrum.

This would also be the first time he had ever driven a 4wd on carpet and the b74 would need some dialling in to make it easier to drive. With help from the Halls by the end of round 4 he had got the car to be almost 2 laps faster and qualified p6 for the A final eventually finishing p5 after a few errors in the latter stages while in p4. Pretty decent in the end for the first time on carpet with a 4wd

In 2wd the b6.1 was working well straight away and the focus was on getting clean runs due to being in a lower heat than his pace showed - the elusive 16 lap run was achieved in rd 4 and Ethan even outqualified a couple of F1 level drivers in his final 👍. With scores of 24/89 and 28/89 he was in D final which is 2 higher than last meeting and his best ever. After a good start he was running in p2 for a while holding off Luke Holdsworth but the pressure told and a error dropped him to p4 by the finish but still a good day all round.

Next race is the buggy blitz before Xmas - looking forward to it 👊

So today we visited Dudley model car club for round 2 of the winter series and this would be my first time racing on the lower grip prima carpet.

Initially we ran the proline prism tyre on the B6.1 but these didn’t have enough rear traction so after swapping to the regular cactus tyre it was an instant extra lap improvement. Couldn’t quite break the 19 lap run despite being really close but two p16’s meant p9 in the B final and some pretty quick locals to race.

After a great start getting into p3 at the end of lap 1 I was having a great run keeping with Jason but having Russ and Stuart bearing down on me as the race drew to a close. Sadly while defending I clipped the hose and spun down to p5 but I did manage to put in 9 laps in the 15 second brackets which was my quickest all day (shows that running with faster people does drag you along more!) AND got the 19 laps in 👍

An enjoyable day and a different challenge compared to high grip EOS carpet which we return to next week with rd 2 of buggy blitz. Looking forward too it 🙂

So today Ethan and Dad went racing at the first round of the buggy blitz at west bridgford (first time racing in weeks for dad!) - Both using the b6.1 laydown cars

After a steady first round Ethans built up his speed eventually getting an excellent p11 in round 3 which was enough to put him level pe***ng with Dad before the last round in p15/16 overall.

Sadly a decision to go with new tyres meant a slower run due to grip roll but he did cement his place in the B final out of 60 driver right behind dad 👍

The final was eventful for all the wrong reasons but he was battling with dad for most of it but both ended up at the back after a coming together with each other (so much for the “Team” part lol).

All in all a good day and some decent pace and it’s getting faster.....

Tomorrow it’s outdoors so a complete contrast as we are both racing the MAM at Kidderminster - ethan with his b74 and dad with his SC6.1, let’s hope for a dry autumn day !

So today we are at the last BRCA national event - the F345 where all the racers from roundthe country compete in a 1 off event.

After a wet practice it’s been dry for round 1 - mixed bag so far for the team but everyone has good pace so all to play for.

Ethan has beat dad by a lap....
