Orrell RUFC

Orrell RUFC The Home of Rugby Union in Orrell and a founding member of the Orrell & Winstanley Community Sports

A great and fun community club based in Orrell with a long and proud history. We currently have a great 1XV team that play each Saturday in the North West 2 Division. The club also offers "TickNPass" fitness and wellbeing sessions for those wishing to just keep fit and active and meet people socially. The club also has a growing Mini and Junior Section offering grassroots rugby training, fitness and friendship to both boys and girls from age 6 upwards.

Orrell U16s Complete Remarkable Double with Sedgley Park 7s Triumph

Fresh from securing back-to-back Lancashire Cup success, Orrell RUFCโ€™s U16s have added another trophy to an already unforgettable season after winning the Try It Rugby Junior 7s Tournament at Sedgley Park RUFC on 16 May.

The latest success continues an outstanding run for the young side, who have impressed throughout the season with their skill, teamwork and consistency across both the 15-a-side and 7s formats.

Having recently been crowned Lancashire Cup Champions for the second consecutive year, the squad travelled to Sedgley Park full of confidence and once again delivered a series of strong performances to lift the trophy.

There was also individual recognition for Orrell, with huge congratulations to Harvey, who was named the refereesโ€™ Player of the Tournament following an outstanding series of performances throughout the day.

The achievement is further recognition of the commitment shown by the players, coaches and families throughout the season, with the group continuing to embody the values of teamwork, friendship, sportsmanship and community spirit that sit at the heart of Orrell RUFC.

Club representatives praised the squad not only for their performances on the pitch, but also for the way they continue to represent the club.

โ€œThis group continues to make everyone at Orrell incredibly proud. To follow up Lancashire Cup success with another tournament victory shows the talent and character running through the squad.โ€

โ€œThey are a fantastic group of young people and outstanding ambassadors for the club both on and off the field.โ€

The double success caps off what has already become a season to remember for Orrellโ€™s U16s, with excitement continuing to build around the future of this talented group.
