Some of our staff here at Alma are working towards their BHS stage 2 care assessment. One of the sign of criteria for this is being able to take off a horses shoe. Here’s some pics of them doing a great job and learning from a great farrier ☺️

Did you know we are a British Horse Society approved centre?

In fact we are the only BHS approved riding school and assessment centre in all of the Scottish isles. We have this approval as Susie, our senior coach, is a BHS Accredited Professional Coach, and now Kaylee also has her stage 3 Coaching.

Being BHS approved means we are part of their nationally recognised quality assurance programme. We’ve been independently inspected to ensure our horse welfare, safety standards, facilities, and professionalism all meet high industry standards.

By riding with us you can be assured you will receive high quality and safe coaching, our horses are all given high quality care and that our facilities are safe and up to standard.

Today with one of our changing lives participants we went over the use and importance of high viz when out hacking. We also practiced putting on different forms of high viz on the horse.

We then went for a lovely hack on our grass tracks. Great morning had by pony and rider ☺️

Just a little post to say

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the business over the last years. It has grown beyond what I thought was possible here in Shetland.

A special thank you to the volunteers who have helped along the way and the riders who have been with me from the beginning. I wouldn’t have got this far without you.

After over 3 years of working long hours to grow the business. It’s now in a position that I can take a step back and hand over the reins to Susie, Kaylee and Leah.

I have so enjoyed getting to know everyone. It has been amazing watching everyone’s riding improve and horsey knowledge grow. All while having lots of fun and laughs along the way.

I will miss you all.
