I'm a huge fan of Seth so do expect me to share lots of his wisdom on here! This is one of his short blog posts. I'm quoting most of it below:
"An interesting problem is one that's never been solved in quite this way before. It's not always going to work. The stakes are high. It involves coloring outside the lines.
Most solution providers (freelancers/firms/professionals) shy away from the interesting problems. There's not a lot of firm ground to stand on. There's more apparent risk than most people are comfortable with. It's too easy to shy away and pull back a little.
But...
And it's a big but...
The few who are willing to engage in interesting problems are worth working with."
He's talking about us my friends - THE CREATIVES! We are the ones with the ability to challenge the status quo, to colour outside the lines and set our imagination free to explore way beyond the boundaries of our knowledge of what has gone before. It's a brave new world out there but you, yes YOU are the ones most equipped to succeed and, not only that, but to love what you do while you're talking that world by storm. It won't always be easy and sometimes you'll feel tempted to slip back under the comfort blanket of conformity, but remember that you are not alone. There is a whole army of supporters out there cheering you on.
So, go for the interesting, the difficult, the ground-breaking. I for one will be here to hold your hand.
