After leaving school I worked for various companies before studying BSc (Hons) Industrial Information Technology at the University of Central in Birmingham, graduating in 1993.
I joined the Army Reserves in 1997, firstly in the Royal Marines and after attempting selection for the UK Special Forces, I joined B Company, 6 Rifles as an infantry soldier, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and completing courses at the Infantry Battle School at Brecon and the Land Warfare Centre.
I completed a Close Protection course with Clearwater Special Projects and worked for G4S for two years.
In 2014 B Company 6 Rifles was disbanded and became 675 Sqn Army Air Corps in order to provide ground crew to the new Wildcat Helicopter based at RNAS Yeovilton. The move brought a new skill set, promotion to the rank of Sergeant and new opportunities which have included Helicopter Handling Instructor and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Instructor at the Defence CBRN centre. I also completed an exchange with the US Army in Utah on the UK/US Soldier Exchange programme.
