What can happen when you take action

This is my client jevi and he’s been with me for 9 days. 9 days and we can see some small but visible changes to his physique.

Jacob already had a plan before starting with me, all I’ve done is made some tweaks to what he was doing and those tweaks have had an effect

Sometimes a little guidance is all that’s needed to get more from what you’re doing.

Are you actually training to failure?

I've seen it before where people have felt like their progress is stalling or their lifts just aren't progressing.

You watch them train and can instantly see they're leaving multiple reps in the tank!

You don't call a set when it starts to feel difficult, you call a set when the rep speed has practically stopped.

Form videos can be really helpful, being able to watch back a set and objectively say if it was truely failure.

It's a skill and takes time to learn, but once you do, it can make a massive difference to training progression.

My evening routine

Mainly consists of getting myself ready for work the next day, meal prepping my meals, sorting my clothes out

This is fit for purpose for myself, you might find batch cooking for meal prepping more suitable, or doing it in the morning before leaving.
As long as it works for your life, that’s all that matters

Fitness has a different meaning for me now

When I first got in to the gym, a lot of my motivation was how I looked and how I wanted to look

That still stands today, however I also have a sense of doing it because I can

With my health issues at the end of last year / start of this year, there was a lot of anxiety around getting back in to training after a good few months off, but it was so good being able to get in and do a workout where I couldn’t previously

Don’t forget downtime!

Routine and structure are key to progress, but so is allowing yourself some downtime

Whether that’s gaming, reading a book or watching TV, you have to allow for downtime so that you can relax and switch off from your busy day for a little while

Planning downtime in your routine can also help you to stop feeling guilty for doing it and keeping you from overdoing it as well

You can stay on track and still eat a meal with your family

Unless you’re in a competition prep or photo shoot diet, you can plan in family meals that aren’t necessarily “tracked” meals

I eat 4 meals a day. 3 are fully tracked meals that are worked out for my calories, but I will have my evening meal with my wife.
Whatever she fancies, I’ll track it as best I can but I’ll enjoy our time together

Caveat to that is the untracked meal is still a home cooked meal, it doesn’t mean you can have takeaways all the time

Things have been far from “optimal” for the last month or so, however I’ve not thrown the towel in and done what I can and I appear to have grown some hamstrings 👀

Massive shoutout to coach for being in my corner, keeping my head screwed on when I’ve had wobbles and not shouting “you just don’t want it hard bad enough”. He’s human too and realises and understands that life gets in the way sometimes.
It’s what you do in those times that makes the difference

5 weeks ago I finally admitted I needed some assistance when it came to training and nutrition. I’ve got a good idea of what to do myself but needed that bit of guidance and 100% needed help with adherence.
So 5 weeks ago I reached out and hired to help me get where I hadn’t previously.
Pictures on the left show my starting point, after about 6 months of doing nothing. Pictures on the right are from today at the start of week 6.
Safe to say we’ve made a dent and started to get some more detail and slowly get back to where I was size and strength wise
Staying in a slight deficit till the start of September, go on my honeymoon and then enter a gaining phase afterwards
Can’t wait to see what we achieve before September and then what can be done afterwards

Really connecting with the movement and weight increasing but reps not dropping 👌🏼

Final set from today, 120kg for 9. I swear I thought I'd done 10 but watching the video back proved me wrong. Target for next time 💪🏼
