Unfortunately, despite everyone’s efforts, we haven’t been able to find enough players to continue, and we’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to fold the team.

We’re all absolutely devastated. This has been a fantastic bunch of girls, many of whom have played together for years, and it’s been a privilege to be part of their journey.

I really hope each and every one of them continues playing football and enjoys many more years in the game. Hopefully our paths will cross again on a football pitch somewhere in the future.

A massive thank you to all the parents, players, coaches, supporters and everyone who has helped us over the years. There have been some brilliant memories, and although this isn’t the ending we wanted, we should all be incredibly proud of what the girls have achieved.

Last night’s training session was a bit different. With the hot weather and a solar eclipse at the same time, we decided to keep things more relaxed and focus on fun football games with a purpose.

The games worked on communication, reactions, scanning, passing and dribbling, so the girls were still improving their skills while enjoying themselves. We also built in plenty of rest breaks so everyone could safely watch the eclipse.

Today’s Trainer of the Week was Ava, loads of talking, great passing, and fantastic effort all session. And despite “seriously” injuring Coach Steve in what I’m pretty sure was a fair tackle 😂 he’s absolutely going to milk this one for a while. If you see him hobbling about, try not to laugh too much!

ONE FINAL PUSH — PLEASE SHARE

This is a post we really didn't want to have to write…

Our Dearne & District U13 Girls team is currently on the brink of folding.

We've tried recruiting over the last few months, but unfortunately we haven't managed to bring enough players into the squad to make the new season viable.

We currently have 8 registered players who are all keen to stay and continue playing together.

The reality is that we need a minimum of 2 more players to make the team viable, but ideally we'd love to bring in 5 new players so that we can start the season with a healthy squad and give these girls the team they deserve.

And that's why we're making one final push.

We're giving it ONE WEEK to try and save the team.

We're looking for Year 7 & 8 girls from September who would like to come along, meet the team and give football a go.

You don't have to be the best player. Attitude, effort and being part of a team matter just as much to us.

But we're also being completely open-minded this time.

If you're another local girls' team who is struggling for numbers, please get in touch.

We are genuinely willing to talk about merging with another team if that's what it takes to keep these girls together and playing football.

We don't want to lose this group.

They've built friendships, worked hard, supported each other and created a brilliant team environment. It would be heartbreaking for them to lose their team simply because we can't find enough players.

Not quite on the ball with yesterday’s update, but it was a really strong session where the girls worked hard from start to finish.

We focused on decision-making and scanning, helping players find the right option under pressure. It was a tough call to pick a standout player, but Darcey edged it. She always performs well in these types of sessions thanks to her excellent footballing brain, but yesterday she took it to another level. Brilliant effort, Well done, Darcey.

We have a great group of girls who have grown together, supported each other and created a really positive team environment. Now we're looking to add a few more players to the team and continue building for the new season.

We are looking for girls who will be in Year 7 or 8 from September.

You don't need to be the best player or have years of experience. We are looking for girls who enjoy football, want to improve, work hard and want to be part of a friendly team where effort and attitude matter just as much as ability.

Tonight’s training session was the last one of the month, so we kept it fun with mini games throughout. It was a warm one, and there were plenty of red faces by the end, great to see the effort levels from everyone.

We mixed things up by making the pitch smaller and adding minimum pass requirements, which really encouraged the girls to find space and keep the ball moving.

A great session from all of them tonight, but a special mention for today’s trainer of the week chosen by Emmy - Ezmi. Well deserved for some excellent passing and always finding space.
Well done, Ez, and well done to all the girls.

⚽ We're still looking for a couple more players to complete our squad for this season! ⚽

We're a friendly, welcoming team and we're happy to consider any player with the right attitude, regardless of experience, ability or preferred position.

We'll be training tonight, and with a few players away on holiday it's going to be a smaller, more relaxed session. That makes it the perfect opportunity for anyone who's:
• Never played for a team before
• Feeling a little nervous about trying a new club
• Looking for a friendly environment to enjoy their football

There's absolutely no pressure, just come along, have some fun, and see what you think. If it's not for you, you've still had a free training session and hopefully enjoyed yourself... win-win! 😊

Great session tonight despite the lower numbers during the summer holidays. The girls who came along really made it count.

We focused on passing accuracy, exploring different types of passes, and then building into passing and moving with increasing difficulty. The hard work definitely paid off, especially in the final game where there were some brilliant passing moves on display.

Trainer of the Week goes to our newest signing, Ava. Fantastic effort tonight. Well done, Ava!
