1st game of the season today away at Halfway Juniors for New Bohemians Football Club F.C. sluggish start but given we have played since mid July that was to be expected. We worked hard across the pitch, tried to play football but long grass was challenging but in the end ran out pretty comfortable at 3 - 1. Solid team performance with things to work on and a bit if match fitness to find. Some excellent performances from Bish and Cohen helped us secure the win.

Adam made some excellent saves today at important moments and kept on giving us a chance to keep trying for goal until the very end.

That’s what we need from our goalkeeper, and today he delivered again!

🏆 MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE MATCH 🏆

Congratulations to Zach, who takes home today’s Managers Player of the Match!

We went into today’s game with a bit of a tactical plan for Zach, knowing just how much joy we can get from him when he’s able to bring the ball out from the back and drive us into the forward areas, which we often need going up hill too.

And he showed exactly why today. In droves. Not only was Zach brilliant in possession and carrying the ball forward, but he also put in a really strong defensive shift. He got stuck in, made the challenges we needed and showed a real willingness to compete when we were out of possession.

A really deserved award, Zach.

⚽️ What a start to the season for the U9s! ⚽️

A fantastic first game for the lads today against a very well organised team. It was a hard fought, end-to-end contest, and every single one of them gave everything for the team.

The work rate and determination were brilliant to see, with everyone tracking back, helping each other and battling for every ball. We soaked up plenty of pressure at times, but we also created some great chances of our own on another day, a few of those could easily have found the back of the net!

Both defensively and going forward, the lads looked really solid and showed exactly what they’re capable of. We could have put the game to bed in the first half, but credit to the opposition, they came back strong after the break and made us work hard. The boys dug deep, defended brilliantly and showed great resilience to see it through.

Most importantly, the togetherness was fantastic. You can coach skills and tactics, but you can’t coach that desire to work for each other and this group has shown that in abundance today.

A brilliant team effort and a fantastic foundation to build on. The hard work, grit and belief they show for one another will get us over the line in plenty of games this season.

Our U9s final training session before the new season starts on Sunday, was a fun filled session with all the kids working hard as usual. Trainer of the week goes to David for his effort and dedication today working hard constantly and showing great attitude.

Our U9’s headed over to Ecclesfield Red Rose today for a round robin tournament with three other teams. Missing two players who are currently away on holiday the remaining six braved the heat and conditions to finish top of the table with some great results against Ecclesfield Red Rose, AG Sports and ERR 1915 with some greatly contested games against three strong teams. Finishing top of the table meant a final with ERR 1915 where earlier in the round robin the game was evenly matched and finished level. The final saw us start the stronger team and take the lead earlier on to go on and finish strong and claim our first tournament win of the summer after previously finishing as semi finalists and most recently getting to a final but not being able to get over the final hurdle. This time round the lads pulled together worked hard showed great teamwork and dedication to use their past experiences to play strong and finish with a convincing result to take home the champions league format trophy. 🏆🥇🏆🥇
