Whitley Hall Cricket Club

Whitley Hall Cricket Club Whitley Hall CC are members of the Yorkshire Premier League South & have 3 teams playing in the Premier, 1st & 6th Divisions respectively.

We also have a lady’s soft ball side & run All Stars, Dynamos & Junior Sides at U9’s, U11’s, U13’s, U15’s & U18’s Whitley Hall Cricket Club started sometime in the late 1800’s (originally Whitley Pond-Larks) and played at Whitley Lane near the Norfolk Arms Pub, Grenoside. It re-located to its current ground at Cinderhill Lane, half way between Ecclesfield and Grenoside, in 1926 following a storm a

t the original ground the previous year. Although an ambitious club, Whitley Hall is proud of its family tradition and welcoming atmosphere. Some of the highlights have been:

- The club won the Yorkshire Council Championship in 1999 and 2012
- Also won the League Championship in 2012
- We are the first club to retain the Black Sheep Champions of Champions Trophy winning it in both 2011 and 2012, in what is regarding as the highest honour in Yorkshire for a non-professional club. There is a thriving junior system with as mentioned above, junior teams as under 11’s, 13’s, 15’s, 17’s level. This success is passed from its open to everyone coaching sessions on a Thursday night which has brought through all the players within the junior sides and most of the players currently playing in the first and second teams at senior level. During the summer it’s not unusual to find up to 50 youngsters (both boys and girls) being coached by some of our current 1st XI players who volunteer their time to bring on the youngsters with coaching through the summer months. The club has partnerships with 14 local schools and has recently achieved ‘Club Mark’ Status and has a named child protection office.

💙 AUGUST AT WHITLEY HALL 💛

As we head into the final two weeks of the season, it’s time to look back on what has been another incredibly busy August at Whitley Hall Cricket Club! 🏏

🎉 1st August – Bongo’s Bingo
We kicked off the month in style with a fantastic night of Bongo’s Bingo, bringing plenty of laughs, music and questionable prizes to the clubhouse!

🧙‍♂️ 7th August – Chris Waddle became a Wizard!
A true football legend and one of the most memorable nights of the summer as Chris Waddle joined us and officially became a Whitley Hall Wizard! 🪄⚽

❤️ Harry Waldron Day
Our annual Harry Waldron Day was another huge success, with the club coming together to raise nearly £500 for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. A brilliant day for an incredibly important cause. Your raffles winners where Neil Clegg, Shaun Cowan with Freddie Chatterton guessing the correct number of sweets in the Jar.

🏆 Mick Savage Cup Final
Our 2nd XI came agonisingly close to lifting the trophy, falling just short at the final hurdle against Frickley. After a fantastic cup run, they eventually lost by just 2 wickets in a thrilling final.

🌧️ Presidents Cup Final
Unfortunately, the wet weather that brought a soggy end to August meant we were unable to host the Presidents Cup Final. Fingers crossed we can get it played soon!

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make August such a memorable month — players, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and everyone who has walked through the gates. 💙💛

Now, with just two weeks of the season remaining, let’s finish the season strong! 💪🏏
