Yesterday was winter league time for me on my local pond. The dark, cold morning didn't make getting out of bed any easier but it was brilliant to get out of the house after days sat around inside. Everyone is always in high spirits too on these matches around xmas, which makes the day so good. I drew peg 7 on "Benidorm bank" and after the last two draws on "Church bank" in the shade I practically skipped to my peg, atleast I'd be warm even if I didn't catch!๐
As usual, I set up far too much kit and then decided to just fish 2 lines at 13 metres, one with groundbait, and the other just loose fed maggots. Both lines plumbed up the same which made life even easier and I could just use one rig, plus a rig for up in the water. It was a patient match of alternating lines and being really careful to manage how much bait went in. Small perch made themselves at home over the groundbait, and were also up in the water on my shallow rig, then the big chunky ide turned up in the last two hours on my maggot line and I had a steady run to the finish line and the match win, but more importantly good points for the league and an excellent day out with a brilliant bunch of people. ๐๐๐ป
I hope you are all having a great time over the festive period, did Santa bring you any fishing related presents this Christmas and have you managed to get out and try them yet?
