It's a glorious sunny day and we're back at Aston Park Fisheries today for our first school session of the new term. The Angling Village at Chatsworth was amazing but now our attention shifts back to our coaching and alternative provision for schools, here's a little update on what I have in the pipeline over the new term.

🎣 WHAT A WEEKEND AT CHATSWORTH COUNTRY FAIR! 🎣

What an incredible three days we had in the Angling Village!

Close to 400 people picked up a rod and had a go on the Access Angling casting pool over the weekend, with many more stopping by to watch, chat with us and find out a little more about what we do.

From complete beginners holding a fishing rod for the very first time to youngsters already hooked on angling, it was brilliant to see the pool surrounded by children, families and visitors throughout the weekend.

At times the queue seemed never-ending — and we wouldn't have had it any other way! 😂🎣

Of course, a weekend like this doesn't happen without some fantastic support behind the scenes.

A massive thank you to the team at Wychwood Agitator, who provided the equipment used on the casting pool as well as some brilliant prizes and items for our goody bags. Their team members also gave up their time to help us with coaching throughout the weekend, and their support helped us give hundreds of visitors a great first experience of angling.

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to Mallon & Green for once again generously providing fantastic items for our goody bags, Fjuka Fishing Bait for providing more bait to giveaway over the weekend and to Yellowbelly Flying for supplying the fantastic bags themselves. Your continued support is very much appreciated.

And finally, thank you again to every single person who stopped by, chatted with us, supported us or picked up a rod and had a go. You made the weekend what it was.

Seeing the casting pool surrounded by people and so many youngsters getting their first taste of angling was something pretty special.

Hopefully we've helped inspire a few new anglers along the way. ❤️🎣

More Than Just Fishing

We are all set for day 3 in The Angling Village at Chatsworth Country Fair 2026. Once again we've got loads of goody bags and prizes to give away today, very kindly provided by Mallon & Green & Yeti, Wychwood Agitator and Yellowbelly Flytying. If you are coming down today, don't be put off by the rain this morning, the ground is in great condition and the forecast is looking pretty good for the rest of the day.

Many thanks to everyone that attended our summer holiday taster sessions, the weather may not have been on our side for the last two🌧️, but to see so many of you getting outdoors and enjoying yourselves in all weathers was great to see.

For now, my attention shifts to Chatsworth Country Fair and work is well underway setting up and building The Angling Village ready for the opening day of the show on Friday. If you are visiting the show, I will be there again running the have a go casting pool alongside and in conjunction with the guys from Wychwood Agitator, so do come along and get involved , it's completely free to have a go and we'll have lots of goodies and prizes to give away too, just come and register at the yellow Access Angling gazebo and we'll get you started.

I'll be back at Aston Park Fisheries from the 9th September, once the show is over with new and existing schools and I cant wait to meet the new cohort of students that will be starting fishing with us this year. Anyone wishing to book a one to one session can contact me too and I will also be looking at some more regular beginner sessions on Saturday mornings, so keep an eye out for those if you enjoyed the summer sessions.
