Following on from Louise's post earlier this evening I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to all our members and staff who have supported the gym over the past 3+ years since we took over operating the leisure centre from Nuffield back in 2019. Its been a privilege to be part of the Spinkhill community, and I am so sad to have to close our doors.

I'll still be spending plenty of time at the college as the DS Swim - Spinkhill Learn to Swim Academy, my DS Swim - Performance Coaching sessions, and of course the Dolphins of Spinkhill SC are continuing at the Mount pool, so I shall still see those of you who bring your children to swimming lessons, but its still a very sad moment to see the gym close and this chapter in Spinkhill Village & Community history come to an end.

As this is our last evening at DS Gym And Pool, I would just like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of our members, you really have made my experience at the centre a great one. I have been here for 6.5 years, you have become my extended family and what feels like my second home 😅. The support you showed the gym and myself through the pandemic was just incredible and I will forever be thankful (I think I may of gone insane without our evening classes on Zoom). All the best for the future guys and please keep in touch, much love ❤️ Louise

Well it’s the last week and Louise Berry’s last ever Zumba class. Thank you to Louise for all her had work and keeping the members well and truly entertained, they really have loved your Zumba classes. All the best for the future, from the DS gym and pool team ♥️

Please see below an important letter sent to our members today regarding the closure of DS Gym & Pool at the end of March (please note that DS Swim - Spinkhill Learn to Swim Academy lessons and DS Swim - Performance Coaching 121s ARE still continuing at Mount St Mary's College):

Dear Members,

It is with great sadness that I need to inform you that Mount St Mary’s College have decided to terminate our contract to manage the gym facilities at the college, meaning that DS Gym & Pool will be closing on the 31st March 2022.

Payments

Those who pay by bank transfer at the beginning of the month should cancel their standing order after March’s payment has gone through.

For those of you who pay by GoCardless, we will be cancelling your monthly payment plan, and charging a pro rata fee to cover the rest of march (e.g. if your payment normally comes out in the middle of the month, you will pay half of your normal fee to cover the rest of March). Please do not cancel your GoCardless Direct Debit until after your final payment has been taken, or you will be unable to use the gym during March. We will cancel any GoCardless Direct Debits which are still active at the end of March.

For those of you who have lessons with DS Swim, please note that our swimming lessons will be continuing to operate 7 days per week at Mount St Mary’s College, albeit with reduced hours during weekdays. I have written to all of our Learn to Swim Academy members to inform them of the forthcoming changes - if you believe you are affected by these changes but have not received an email, please let us know as soon as possible.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your custom and support, especially to those of you who have been members since we opened back in January 2019 and stayed with us through covid. It has been an honour and privilege to serve Spinkhill and the wider community over the past 3 years, and I am grateful for the way in which the staff and I have been embraced as part of the local community. Unfortunately to our knowledge the school does not appear to have plans to open up the facilities for use by the general public going forward, so I wish you all the best with finding a new facility to train at.
