🏠 FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON

After a great 1-0 away win against Parkgate Reserves yesterday, attention now turns to our first home game of the season.

And it’s a big one as we welcome Jubilee FC to our new home at Frecheville Sports & Social Club.

🚴‍♂️ 134 MILES. 2 DAYS. 1 MISSION. 💙💚

Sheffield City FC Chairman Jamie Barton is taking on an incredible challenge this October in support of three fantastic causes.

Over 2 days, Jamie will cycle an incredible 134 miles, raising money for:

💙 Andy's Man Club – Supporting men's mental health and reminding every man that it's okay to talk.
💚 Sheffield City FC – Helping the club continue to grow and provide opportunities for football within the local community.
🏡 Frecheville Sports & Social Club – Supporting a fantastic community venue that plays such an important role for so many people.

The journey will begin at Wrexham AFC's Racecourse Ground before visiting some of the country's most iconic football grounds:

The 134-mile challenge represents far more than just the distance. Every mile will be ridden to raise awareness of men's mental health, while also supporting Sheffield City FC and Frecheville Sports & Social Club.

This will be a huge physical and mental challenge, but one Jamie is determined to complete for three causes that are incredibly close to his heart.

💚🖤 FULL TIME | PARKGATE RESERVES 0–1 SHEFFIELD CITY FC 💚🖤

Three massive points on the road! 👊

What a performance from the lads today.

From the first whistle to the last, every single player gave absolutely everything. The work rate, commitment, organisation and determination across the entire squad was outstanding.

Parkgate were certainly not without their chances and played their part in what was a really good game of football to watch, but City stood firm when it mattered.

🛡️ HEROICS AT THE BACK

The entire back line were outstanding today. They threw themselves into challenges, won important battles and defended their box brilliantly when Parkgate put us under pressure.

And behind them was an outstanding performance from Nathan Thorpe in goal. Nathan was composed throughout and made some crucial saves when called upon to help secure a massive clean sheet. 🧤👏

⚽ THE GOAL

The decisive moment came from a set piece.

A Max Smith free kick was delivered into a dangerous area and Luke Challand met it with a volley, sending the ball back across goal.

Waiting in the right place was Jake Roberts, who reacted quickest to head home from close range and give City the lead. 🔥

From there, the lads dug in and battled for every ball to see the game out.

⭐ MAN OF THE MATCH — CHIDALU NWOFOR

An outstanding performance from Chidalu today.

From start to finish, he was class — winning the ball back, creating chances, working tirelessly and constantly causing problems for the opposition.

A thoroughly deserved Man of the Match award. 👏

💚🖤 A huge well done to the entire squad.

Today was a proper team performance. Everyone played their part, everyone worked for each other and everyone gave everything to bring the three points back to Sheffield.

🟢⚫ MATCHDAY TOMORROW 🟢⚫

We’re back on the road tomorrow as we take on Parkgate Reserves in County Senior Division One.

Following a positive performance and a hard-earned point away at Royston last weekend, the lads will be looking to build on that and continue moving in the right direction.

Parkgate come into the game on the back of a strong 4-1 win against Maltby Main Reserves in midweek, so we know we’ll face a confident side and another good test.

But we’ll be going into the game with plenty of belief, looking to play our football, compete for every ball and put another strong performance together.

🅱️ Letter B… here we go again! 😂🟢⚫

After the madness of the first challenge, we thought we’d give the lads another one before Saturday’s game.

This time, they had to bring something beginning with the letter B. 👀

🎙️ COACH OLLY WARD | POST-MATCH INTERVIEW

Following Saturday’s hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Royston, we caught up with Coach Olly Ward to get his thoughts on the performance and look ahead to this weekend’s trip to Parkgate Reserves.

🗣️ Olly Ward:

“Saturday was a tough test against a well-established Royston side on a tight pitch.

The first-half setup really worked in our favour. We frustrated the opposition and found plenty of joy through our striker Ahmed Muse, who was involved in a real physical battle against their back four. Ahmed set the precedent for the rest of the team with his work rate and physicality, and the lads followed that example.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have it all our own way and lost a couple of players to injury early on.

Freddie Mallard suffered a serious knee injury following what looked like an innocuous challenge, but unfortunately the landing had a significant impact on his knee. Lewis Reid then dropped into the number six role to cover Freddie and was proving to be a real thorn in Royston’s side before he himself had to come off with a calf injury.

The second half was much the same in terms of the battle and determination from City.

Eventually, we got the breakthrough after an excellent headed clearance by Callum Booth fell to Luke Challand on our own 18 yard box, who carried the ball almost the entire length of the pitch before delivering a great cross. Regan Mallard then headed the ball across goal, where Chidalu was brought down and we were awarded a penalty.

Regan stepped up and calmly slotted it away. ⚽

From there, City had to weather a barrage of attacks. The lads defended brilliantly and showed unbelievable determination, but unfortunately the constant pressure eventually told and we conceded with only minutes left on the clock.

Overall, the lads put in an unbelievable performance. Royston are a very difficult team to break down and, although it feels like two points dropped after being so close to victory, the players should be extremely proud of the point and the performance they put in.”

Our attention now turns to Saturday, as City travel to face Parkgate Reserves.

Parkgate come into the game full of confidence after a strong 4-1 midweek victory over Maltby Main Reserves, so another tough test awaits.

🟢⚫MATCH REPORT | ROYSTON FC 1–1 SHEFFIELD CITY FC🟢⚫

A hard-fought point away from home today as we battled to a 1–1 draw against Royston FC.

After a difficult start to the season, today was a huge step in the right direction. The lads showed exactly what was needed, work rate, determination, fight and, most importantly, togetherness from the first whistle to the last.

We defended well for large parts of the game and competed for every ball, with nobody willing to give up an inch.

We took the lead in the second half after being awarded a penalty, and Regan Millard stepped up and calmly dispatched it to put us 1–0 ahead. That was Regan's second goal of the season.

We continued to dig deep and looked determined to see the game out, but Royston found an equaliser around the 90th minute. A ball across the box fell around two yards out, and a close-range header was enough to make it 1–1.

There was obviously disappointment at conceding so late, but the bigger picture today is a very positive one.

The work rate, determination and togetherness from the lads was second to none. Every player put a shift in, fought for the team and showed the character we know is in this group.

⭐ SPECIAL MENTIONS ⭐

🏆 MOTM – Ahmed Muse

A special mention has to go to Ahmed Muse, who led the line on his own today and was absolutely outstanding. He battled physically throughout the game, won the majority of his battles and gave the Royston defence a constant problem.

A thoroughly deserved Man of the Match performance. 👏

💚16-YEAR-OLD DEBUTANT – Chidalu Nwofor

Another huge mention for 16-year-old Chidalu Nwofor, who was thrown into the action just 25 minutes into the game following Freddie's injury.

Despite being brought on unexpectedly, Chidalu showed amazing work rate, determination and maturity beyond his years. He created chances, never stopped running and played a huge part in winning the penalty that gave us the lead.

What a debut. 👏🟢⚫

🙏 FREDDIE MILLARD

Unfortunately, the game also brought an injury to Freddie Millard, who had to leave the field after just 25 minutes with a knee injury.

Everyone at Sheffield City FC wishes Freddie a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back with the lads as soon as possible. 💚

Today wasn't just about the result, it was about the fight, character and togetherness shown by this group.

A point gained and a performance to build on.
