At the start of this year, as we get ready to celebrate 10 years as Mr & Mrs McNeil this June, we made a promise to fill the year with things we could do together 🤍
Fraz was set on a mixed doubles Hyrox… and if I’m honest, I was VERY hesitant. For me, exercise has always been about fun — and Hyrox sounded anything but 😅 But I committed. I showed up. I trained HARD. I wanted to give it everything I had and actually enjoy the process too.
Then, 3 weeks out… my knees started hurting.
Then they really started hurting.
My left knee especially got so bad that walking was almost unbearable. Stairs, driving, even demoing Pilates became a struggle. Training had to stop — which hit me mentally more than I expected.
About 10 days before, Fraz said what I didn’t want to admit: “We need to pull out.”
As frustrating as it is, he was right. Then last week my knee just “gave way” a few hours in Minor Injuries and I yeah I’m out and I need physio 😢
So here we are instead… at a Rudding Park spa. No sled pushes. No burpees. No race day.
Just rest, recovery, listening to my body (and my husband… for once 🤭), and spending proper quality time together 🫶🏼
Because when I really think about it… that’s why we signed up for Hyrox in the first place 🤍
Sometimes the plan changes — but the reason behind it doesn’t.
