Good evening everyone. My next available appointments are from the 5th of January due to a well-earned break.

With the cost of living crisis, it is inevitable that I will have to increase my prices in 2023. Prices will change on the 5th of January. You can still book in with 2022 prices until this date. I am consolidating my appointments in order to keep prices as reasonable as possible, especially with increased energy prices, so please book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Wishing you all the best for 2023 and looking forward to treating you all in 2023.

Helen

Thinking about entering a race next year? Want to go faster or further or just want to be able to get that fitness up to a level that maybe you had before? Don't know where to start? Do you get confused with what to do, and sometimes just lack the motivation to get up and go? This is where I can help you. Get expert advice to help you succeed.

I offer support coaching, both remotely and face to face. Is it for you? My Coaching is about preparing you, the athlete to be able to become a stronger more resilient runner both in the mind and body long term (not just for New Year).

I recognise that everyone has different physiologically and psychologically. I look at what sort of programme or support will suit you as an individual, identifying your strengths and weaknesses. How the sessions are sequenced, your biomechanics, how much time/duration is needed, how much speed/power/endurance you need, how the mindset is, and if you are going long then training the gut too. It's so much more than just a plan, so much more than Dr Google can provide.

Coaching isn't just for 'fast runners' - (however you interpret that), nor for just runners to want to be able to do a one off event. I love to work with runners who want longevity, who want to succeed in their own goals, which we look at in detail right from the start. Coaching is not just based on physical performance and just achieving PB's but for me it's about helping you to become a happier more knowledgeable runner. I can help to equip you with the expertise and know-how to create success for you.

I will say coaching is not for everyone, it does require you, as an athlete, to dedicate time and effort to develop a runners' growth mindset as well as the physical effort needed. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in finding out more, let's have a chat first and find out what you want and how I may be able to help you or someone you know.

I can offer a package for someone as a gift for Christmas or Birthday. This may involve face-to-face or remote coaching, or support, or analysis of your movement patterns. There is no off-the-shelf package to purchase because everyone is so unique. Get in touch and let's have a chat first.

A great weekend leading these lovely ladies around the 3 Yorkshire Peaks on a beautiful autumnal day. You can never predict the weather. 15 months ago in July 2020 it was horrendous wet gale force wind type weather on the same route, this weekend, gorgeous sunshine most of the way. The cloud came in up on Whernside and Ingleborough and the gloves and extra base layers came out. I always tell my fellow runners 'think worse case scenario, if you fell would you have enough clothes to keep you warm and safe'. Of course, I take more extra layers too, including full waterproof cover even on a warmer day. MWIS is the best weather resource to look at too which isn't shouted about enough and tells you the temps and visibility on the hills as well as valleys. Yes it felt like 1 degree on the tops and 10 degrees in the valleys. Being outdoor first aid trained and a Hill and Moorland Leader as well as a Fell and Trail run coach really helps when doing these sorts of runs.

We stopped to eat and drink and admire the vistas, we chatted and ran and walked and hiked. A lovely relaxed day out in the hills, what is there not to like? Running for me is now about this, exactly this, running with friends at a lovely steady pace and introducing people to areas they may not have been before or routes they may not feel comfortable doing on their own. I find the 3YP is always a good endurance challenge without the total 'overkill' and plenty of 'escape' routes too in case of injury etc. Plan well, put your risk assessments in place and your adventure will be a fun and enjoyable one.

We followed this adventure with an open water wild swim the day after with some swooshing, swimming and dipping. Each one of us had our own way; one in skins, one in shortie and one in full wetsuit, as a qualified Open Water Swim Coach as well I recommend doing what is right for you and never feel pressurised into staying in, its not a competition with others but a euphoric feeling for yourself and yourself alone.

Huge congratulations to all my run coaching clients who achieved what they wanted to achieve at the weekend.

It wasn't just marathon mania, some had time trials (test and re test for measurement of progress) some were out putting the time in for future events.

Need some focus for your next running journey? Give mea shout and let's chat how I can help you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.

Not just a standard run coach....Qualified UK Athletics run coach/ Fell and Trail run coach / Swimming instructor and open water swim coach and on my way to be an S&C coach alongside heaps of running and swimming experience with proven results. My coaching approach also involves lots of growth mindset work, believe in the process achieve your outcome, enjoy the journey.

Wonderful results today from some of my coaching clients, the dedication to the journey's, the perseverance and consistency has been outstanding. This is what makes me happy, seeing others enjoy the process of the training putting it all together to get a fantastic result for themselves, whatever that result it. Congratulations to you all. Rest up well onwards and upwards to a new journey.

Looking forward to seeing how my Coaching clients will apply all their hard work this weekend as they take on 5km time trials, Chester, London or Loch Ness Marathons. The process of training has been fantastic for everyone, consistency and mental resilience has got everyone where they need to be. Race day is just the cherry on the top. All have had a fantastic growth mindset during training, as the body gets stronger so does the mind, preparing for that cherry.

I love to see 'results' but I always also remind my clients that its about the journey getting there, you learn more and grow stronger through the process rather than the outcome. The outcome is just a gateway to another journey, to make you a stronger, happier more resilient runner.

If anyone is interested in the process of coaching let's chat about where you are and where you want to be both physically and in the mind.

Are you struggling to achieve your running goals? Not really seeing any improvements? Need some 'structure' to your running patterns? Consistency is King! Not sure how to measure your progress beyond just comparing your 'times'. Got a race goal in mind now races are back but struggling to work out how to get there? It may be worthwhile investing in a run coach to help you with these issues.

I've now got the capacity to take on a couple more clients. You won't just get an 8/12/16 week programme pulled from google - you can do that yourself; you get fully supported sessions given weekly with an overview as well. Fully supported means checking in with you regularly to see how things are going, monitoring progress, offering any advice, testing and retesting to show improvements, a structure that is flexible and fits around your lifestyle and other commitments. In addition, you will get 1x weekly S&C session written down for you, I am a huge believer in S&C for improving strength and movement patterns for running, in order to improve your running economy, after all we all want to be able to move better, faster over a given distance / time. The S&C movements will be supported by video clips to show you how to do the movements. Additional 121 F2F sessions for your technique can be purchased on top for even better improvement.

Interested? Contact me for a chat and find out how you can improve your running.

This weekend gone was supposed to be my Yorkshire Dales bunk barn trip, a little ambition of mine to "run" a trail adventure weekend for 18 enthusiastic trail lovers. It was not meant to be so everyone got deposits returned ( if you haven't spoken to the lovely Neal ) so instead we had a mini group explore a bit further up the valley. Such fun, some running, some navigation, some scones and cream with a cuppa, three waterfall swims/dips, some pathless heather bashing, some sun, some rain, some thunder, some lightning, a firepit, awesome food and marshmallows, and a little dotty dog joined us.

Such fun. I'd love to arrange a similar trip of running the fells and dipping in waterfalls if anyone is interested. Thanks for a fab weekend. I call it ultradventures, it's where my heart belongs.

The Dales bunk trip wasn't to be this coming weekend such a shame as i have lots of spare bars and chocolate to eat and the weather looks 🌞 but its not stopping afew of us going on some hilly exploring adventures over the next few days anyway. Looking forward to some trail reccies for potential small group trips in the future when life gets back to normality if anyone is still interested in the future l will post some yummy pics after our trip to tempt anyone as I still have an ambition to organise something but on a smaller scale.

Looking forward to finding some dipping spots too.

I am also seeking a small backpacking tent 1 to 2 man if anyone is selling one for some fastpacking adventures in the future if anyone has one for sale drop me a message. I have a big one for normal camping and a £10 one but want a proper backpacking one too.
