March Open Championships 2025
We had 4 athletes representing team AFK at the March Championships.
Christy made her first appearance since the 2024 British Championships and secured her first ever 1st place finish 🥇

Hazel also lifted in the morning session. After a shakey start, missing her first squat, she went on to absolutely smash it out of the park. Hazel got PBs on every lift and a total PB and an 8/9 day.

Usually a bench only athlete Harry made his debut as a full power lifter. Harry finished the day with a PB in every lift and a new total PB.

Obi was the final AFK athlete on the platform. Making his first appearance since he brought home a stack of medals at the commonwealth in summer. In his first outing as a junior, Obi managed to gather up PBs across the board and bag himself a silver medal in the open. 🥈

Congratulations to all the lifters for their amazing performances.

The athletes were supported by a huge number of AFK members handling them, working the platform and table, and reffing. Huge thank you to the whole team for their incredible support of the lifters and the sport in general.

Well done everyone that contributed to this amazing competition, and thank you to for another brilliant event.

British Bench Press Championships 2025
This weekend, 4 of our athletes are heading off to Cardiff to compete at the British and fight for the title of British Champion and places on Team GB.
Our HC and current British M1 52kg Champion ._.clarke will be on platform at 10am with fellow 52kg lifter
Emily will be fighting it out in the open category in her 2nd British Bench competition.

We are currently receiving a lot of requests for day passes.
We love having guests and will go out of our way to accommodate lifters where possible.

AFK is a private facility catering for Team AFK, and when possible, the wider powerlifting community.
As a team, we strive to provide support to all lifters, but we have a duty of care to provide a safe training environment to our own team. Several of whom are very young.
As such, please be aware that while we do offer day passes, we have a strict policy on allowing entry.

▪️We do not charge members of British Powerlifting or affiliated IPF nations for day passes.

▪️As this is a private facility, day passes must be prearranged. We do not allow walk-ins.

▪️Passes will be arranged on a first come, first served basis. However, priority will initially be given to members, followed by members, and then any IPF affiliated members.

▪️Free passes are limited to 2 per month to a total of 12 per year.
Please speak to us if you require a different arrangement. We are very accommodating when possible.

▪️Gym times will be dependent on coaches and team members, especially when this occurs outside opening hours and training sessions.

▪️All lifters must be respectful towards trainers, lifters, and any other guests. They must also treat all kit with care and respect. If you are unsure, please refer to the BP code of conduct.
