Start of the league campaign today vs Porter Pumas. After a decent pre-season unfortunately an off day to start with. Not quite at it everywhere across the pitch. After a tight first half we let it go away from us 2nd half. We go again next week and looking for a strong response from the team. Our goal came from George A assisted by Flynn. Man of the match went to Flynn. He worked hard off the ball and looked lively with the ball at his feet, helping to create chances for us

Our goal assists winner for our pre-season campaign went to Oscar. He continues to be at the centre of many of our attacking moves, holding the play together well in central midfield. Plays with the right combination of driving runs and passing, waiting for the runner to go and then able to pick out the right through ball. For this reason he continues to create plenty of chances and goals for the team. Well played Oscar ⚽️👏

Final friendly of the pre-season before we start the league next week was a really entertaining game vs Sheffield FC. A slow start in the first half + couple of lapses put us behind in the game but 2nd half we laid siege on their goal and created so many chances. On another day we score multiple goals, with their keeper having an outstanding game, plus multiple one on ones and blocks/clearances off the line including two stunning overhead kicks from Oscar. Our goal came unassisted from Brody, but as a team we could and should have had multiple assists today from good passes and crosses. Man of the match for a steady assured defensive performance went to Owen. Playing a chunk of the game as the single defender he sometimes had to deal with multiple players on the counter attack, but dealt with this well through good positioning and anticipation to put in some great challenges

Friendly vs Redfearns this morning. Against a team two divisions higher than us playing in the B division vs our D division status, we managed to hold them to a 2-1 loss. This in itself was a fantastic result against a very good football team. We struggled against the quick pass and movement first half as a confident Redfearns shifted the ball about brilliantly, but we managed to come in to the break only 2-0 down thanks to some brilliant saves. We came out second half and really battled hard against a superior opponent. We picked up our game and managed to work the ball better to create moments, and closed the ball down better. Our goal came from George A after a good cross from Brody. Man of the match today was a joint award. Firstly, playing across two positions during the game George W put in a brilliant defensive midfield shift for the team. Never stopped running and hassling to win the ball back for us. Superb work rate and fitness 👏 Secondly, we owe that result to an absolute superstar keeping performance from Woody. Absolutely brilliant shot stopping, owned his penalty area to marshall his defence and repelled multiple attacks to give us a chance. Truly excellent performance 👏

Friendly vs Killamarsh today. Really encouraging performance from the team. We secured a 2-0 win and a clean sheet! Saw some lovely football played and the team are really starting to gel. Defensively we made improvements on the last game. Woody dealt with everything that came his way, Owen had another great game. Lennon & Isaac were solid when we rotated on. Tried Flynn in a new defensive midfield role to get up alongside Oscar, and together they helped pull the strings and worked really well with our wide players George W, Ted & Brody, who all had outstanding games getting back and forward with lots of energy, with George A up top nearly getting his goal. Goals today came from Brody & Oscar, with assists from Isaac & Owen. Team man of the match today as there were numerous fantastic performances ⚽️🙌

Friendly today vs Wisewood. Missing our keeper Woody, and Oscar coming out of midfield to go in goal, we started the game very brightly against a higher division side, but made three defensive errors midway through the half which changed the game completely to go in behind at the break, coupled with some excellent saves from their keeper to keep good chances out for us. Heads went down after conceding early second half and we got found out defensively with our positioning against a side that moved the ball well. On the flip side we could and should have scored multiple goals. Their keeper was absolutely brilliant, pulling off multiple saves. We learn the lessons, move on and go again! Man of the match went to Flynn. Started in defence and then moved him into an unfamiliar midfield position to cover Oscar. He made some excellent runs and played the ball well. On another day could have had a hat-trick but for their keeper

We played in the Wickersley tournament today.

Drawn against two A division teams and a B division team, 2-3 divisions higher than us - we got through our group unbeaten in 2nd place, managing to get to the knockout stages, conceding only one goal in four group games.

Dinnington 2-0 Wickersley
Dinnington 0-0 Wisewood
Dinnington 0-0 Aston
Dinnington 1-1 Millmoor

Our three goals came from Oscar, George A and Brody ⚽️

We lost narrowly to a team three divisions higher than us 1-0 in the quarter finals.

Big achievement for these lads against that standard of opposition 🙌⚽️

Friendly vs Aston. Summer of change for this team and a fresh start. Really positive signs in today’s game against a high level opponent that will be in our league. Half of the team were new today and we saw some really good signs for the future in the way they worked together defensively and on the attack. Very tight game decided by one goal at 2-1, but the result was irrelevant today. First time playing a full game together. Our goal came from great team work between George A and Oscar to battle and scramble the ball home. Man of the match went to Owen. Commanding defensive performance. Closed the ball down well, positioning was fantastic and linked well with the midfield playing the ball out from the back
