We’ve managed to secure a booking for tonight at Hillsborough College for another open training session!

If you can make it on short notice we’d love to see you down there. No worries if not! All our training sessions are open to new players!

All you need is a drink! Football boots advised but trainers will likely be ok!

Iron’s magic carpet ride ends in Stockport.

The Giants Iron went up to Carlisle last weekend to take part in the Division 1 Northern Plate tournament. After a thrilling opening victory against the formidable host Centurions, we went on to post our highest ever points total against the Colts. Unfortunately we were not able to avenge our game day 7 loss to the Sentinels in the final. The Hail Mary in the final 20 seconds was not answered and Iron had to settle for silver.

Still a tournament to be proud of for the Iron. Doubling our win total from the previous year and measurably improving on both side of ball.

Congratulations to the Sentinels on a worthy Plate win 🤝

2026 BAFA Season ✅

That’s all she wrote for the Iron and Steel BAFA campaigns for this year. The season ended with silverware (not physically though) for both sides.

Steel took home bronze in the BAFA Premiership North playoffs while Iron took home silver in the BAFA Division 1 North Plate tournament.

The final records go;
Steel 10-5
Iron 8-11

The growth the club has experienced on and off the field, from winning a combined 5 games (and 1 tie) last year to playing meaningful football in August, is a testament to all the work the players and coaches have put in throughout the year.

Although Sheffield has been a hotbed of American Football for decades, this is only the 3rd year of the current iteration of the Giants, the future is bright and you can be apart of it!

We’ll be announcing our mixed team off-season plan shortly and there’s never a bad time to BE GIANT!

Although the football never stops at the Giants as our Women’s flag team will be starting their season very shortly, and are always recruiting for new members!

For now though the mixed teams will be enjoying some much needed rest, recuperation and celebration 🎉

Earlier this month the Steel travelled to Carlisle to compete for promotion to the National League.

It wasn’t to be on the day, losing in the semis to the eventual champion, but we rallied and took home the bronze.

A game day that encapsulates the resilience and promise this team shows for the present and the future.

We look forward to running it back in 2027!

From the Olympics in 2028 to American college scholarships, Flag Football is one of the fastest growing sports globally and you can be a part of it!

We are putting on a taster session next Thursday, the 20th of August, at Hillsborough College!

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played this sport, or any other sport before, your new teammates and coaches will be there to support you!

All you need to bring is yourself, some footwear suitable for astro turf (football boots, firm ground rugby boots or astro trainers) and a drink!

Unfortunately due to the amber weather warning both the women’s flag football taster session and mixed flag training that were scheduled to go ahead this evening have been cancelled for player welfare.

We interrupt playoff fever to celebrate the performances from Game Day 6, the final week of the regular season.

Both Steel and Iron wrapped up their seasons and these players shone as we crossed the finish line.

From the Olympics in 2028 to American college scholarships, Flag Football is one of the fastest growing sports globally and you can be a part of it!

We are putting on a taster session tomorrow, the 5th of August at Mosborough RUFC!

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played this sport, or any other sport before, your new teammates and coaches will be there to support you!

All you need to bring is yourself, some footwear suitable for grass (football boots or firm ground rugby boots) and a drink!
