Things I love about teaching yoga
🔻The privilege of sharing an ancient lifestyle philosophy that is still just as relevant today as it was during its conception over 5000 years ago. I wonder how the OG Yogis coped without blocks, straps and Lululemon pants?
🔺 I care about people a lot, and teaching yoga is a very enjoyable means of expressing this care. Really, it makes my heart swell seeing everyone resting in savasana at peace with themselves, with the world. It’s a beautiful thing.
🔻 Teaching yoga stimulates my creativity. I love reflecting on different class themes working with the seasons, lunar cycles, planetary influences and nature. Mother Nature is the best teacher of all and I’m very grateful for her inspiration. Some students have told me that my classes have helped them to reconnect with nature again and that makes me very happy.
🔺Teaching Yoga means being an eternal student of yoga. I am very grateful to be a student and have immense gratitude and love for my teachers who inspire me daily. I’ve had a personal practice for 20+ years now and the practice still keeps evolving.. Different insights land differently like the way light moves through the trees, sometimes it flashes across your nose and sometimes it shimmers in your heart.
🔻 Meeting new people. Teaching has really helped me to get to know my local community better and I feel more woven into the tapestry of our lovely town, Shaftesbury. I’ve met some wonderful new people through teaching and many of them, well all of them have become wonderful friends! Someone said once “If you want to make new friends and get to know your local community better, teach yoga- it’s a great way of getting to know likeminded people” and it’s true, I feel very fortunate to have experienced this..
Debating whether or not to share the things I find challenging about teaching yoga?! Pls comment if you want the dirt too lol!
Jokes apart I really feel so grateful for the teaching, for the students, for the space, for the inspiration.. Even when flickers of self doubt bubble up kind reviews like this one from Roberta mean more than words could ever say 🫶
