So Jensen, Ralph and Luca bring back the gold🥇
Jensen in his 1st season beats a very tough boy from Somerset in the semis a great last round making sure of the win, and gets some international experience in the final defeating a boy from Spain handing out a count on the way!
Ralph gets the walkover to the final but produces his best performance yet in a great bout against a very strong opponent, very close but it’s Ralph’s hand raised to collect the gold medal a great 1st season for him!
Result of the tournament for us was undoubtedly Luca’s 2nd round stoppage over the double Irish champion, this bout was not going the distance both lads came out firing in the 1st with bad intentions and Luca takes a count early on, but regroups to hand out 2 counts in the 2nd to force the stoppage!
A great result for Luca who dropped a tight decision in the schools semi’s his only loss this season and his Irish opponent will be representing his country in the upcoming 4 nations, we’ll watch with interest!
Proud not only of these 3 but all 9 of our boxers who took part in!

Sliver 🥈 for Riley, Robbie and Alfie in the Riley in his 1st bout for a year defeats a tough kid unanimous on Saturday before losing a drawn bout to a schoolboy champion on countback, really thought we won it but onwards and upwards great to see him back! Robbie boxed a French champion in a top class final, not much in it but the gold goes to France this time!
Alfie in his first season boxes a good Spanish boy before losing on points, again not much on it but great to get some international competition so early in his career!
Proud of all 3!

So Felix, Charlie and Ryley take bronze at the unusual scoring as Felix won 1 and 2 but lost the last on all 3 cards so bows out, Charlie’s bout was deemed a draw but after a lengthy wait the bout was awarded to his Irish champion opponent, lastly club captain Ryley beats the Irish champion on the Friday unanimous but loses to the Spanish champion on the Saturday, brilliant performances from Ryley competing in his first 3x3’s and will definitely push on from here !
Proud of all 3 as their bronze medals could’ve been a different colour on another day and all their opponents won the tournament but that’s boxing we go again!👊🏻

Great few days at the Portimao Boxcup well done to our team of 9 boxers who performed brilliantly, Felix , Ralph, Charlie, Luca, Robbie, Riley, Alfie, Jensen and Ryley!
Some highs and lows a few decisions we didn’t agree with but that’s amateur boxing, every bout closely contested and the boys who lost were all to the eventual champions!
But a special well done to Ralph, Jensen and Luca for bringing back the gold!🥇
We finish we 3 bronze, 3 silver and 3 golds, so proud of our boxers who conducted themselves in and out of ring with class👏🏻
Big thanks to our event sponsor and to our coaches and parents giving up their time has been a great few days! 🙌🏻

Our 5 Southern Counties Champions this season; Felix Luca Charlie and the 2 Bobbies!
Very proud of what we’ve achieved this season as well as hosting 6 shows we hope to finish with a bang when we take 9 boxers out to Portugal for the can’t wait for this one!

Not the colour we came for, Luca and Charlie walk away with bronze, 3rd best in the country (for now) unfortunately we leave Newcastle with a bad taste in the mouth as feel Luca was very hard done by and although Charlie’s was a fair enough decision we felt was close, but not according to the judges who went unanimous the other way!
Not one Southern Counties official here so we’ll leave it at that but so proud of both boxers who left everything in there couldn’t ask anyone of them and represented the club with class in and out of ring , we go again!
