Do you feel comfortable running on unfamiliar footpaths on your own?

Running in a group can be very reassuring, you are less likely to get lost ( unless Sam is planning the route 😏 ) you feel safer in company of others and often, you find you can run further.

Whatever your reason for wanting to run with someone else - we get it!

What do you think?

The biggest worry most of our new runners have, is that we'll ask them to do something they can't do. They worry about being too unfit, too old, too slow, too big - and a host of other worries too!

On our beginner courses we start by doing the things you CAN do, and slowly build up from there.

Some ladies find it easier, some harder, but by the end of the course most of them have discovered how much they enjoy being in a group, that they don't actually mind the rain and that they CAN do a 5k run!

And yes, on your first few runs with us, you'll run for just 30 seconds - we promise!

If you've ever been a beginner runner, what was the thing that worried you the most? Let us know in the comments.

After a long week stuck behind a desk we think this is a great way to start your weekend!

Our Saturday group run is between 4-5 miles but like most of our runs, we do this with walk breaks along the way.

Sometimes we start at Hollybush Recreation ground but we also head out into the villages and run along the footpaths and trails nearby - always stopping for a post run cuppa and even cake sometimes! 🍰

We welcome new runners to join us at any time so if you fancy it head to this link to book your FREE session!

Hot and hilly this morning, with some very lovely scenery. We started and finished at Coffee Box for al fresco drinks, and sought the shade as much as possible, in fact it looks like the running subgroup were contemplating a dip. Our special guest 😍 Arthur 😍 is back, a little bit bigger and probably quite a lot heavier but Helen even managed a stile! All we could do was try and look encouraging 😬
So: we talked about AI today, and if you look closely at the photo of Helen and the stile it has an AI generated bit of Sally, because I asked ChatGPT to make it landscape like my other photos. 😳 clever or scary??

A tentative return to exercise for me, with a shady walk guided by Tina while the others braved the heat and ran around the Wildernesse Estate and I don’t really know where else as I wasn’t there (tentative, shady, etc).
In search of an exciting new venue for coffee we did a spot of gate crashing - it was an assisted living facility but hey we have to start somewhere - next time we’ll be back stage at Wembley! Or we could just choose somewhere that’s actually open 😬
Then the main event - a very welcome dip in Tina’s lovely pool 🏝️☀️- it doesn’t get any better than this!

Hot weather running tip!

On Saturday with temperatures reaching the early 30’s we kept our run short and shady, but even so I knew we’d be steamy by the end, so pre prepped my ‘ice rolls’ ready to give to the girls as a reward for coming along.

Inspired by a holiday to Vietnam many years ago, these rolls are really simple to prepare and smell divine.

You’ll need - one clean facecloth per person, some natural oils, I used Sweet Orange this time but I often use Lemongrass.

Put about 1litre of water in a sink or large bowl, drip 20 or more drops of oil in the water and stir with your hand.

Dump the facecloths into the fragrant and swirl them around, then take each one out, squeeze out the excess fluid and roll or fold up. Then you have two options - put in the fridge for a couple of hours, or freeze them.

They take a couple of hours to defrost - great for picnics too!
