It ends in defeat today for the 3rd team, as they lose by 5 wickets against Cottingham 🏏

After losing the toss and being put in to bat, wickets fell regularly to start and Drax found themselves 25/4 early on. Thanks to some middle order resistance from Ben Walker 22 allowed a period of calm in the middle as they looked to rebuild. With wickets starting to tumble again, Billy Turford came in lower down the order with a counter punch 47, falling just short of his half century.

Cottingham then raced to the required total in 20 overs. Some quick early wickets had Drax interested briefly, but ultimately there were not enough runs on the board to defend.

Billy Turford was selected as player of the match for his contribution with the bat, and his 1/24 with the ball in hand.

The 1st XI come out on the wrong side of a close game, as they fall short by 15 runs in their chase against Selby 🏏

Craig Piggott was selected as the player of the match for his brilliant 13 over bowling spell, and his knock of 46 with the bat to joint top score with Tilron Harry - who also scored 46.

The 1s go again next week in the final game of the season, as they return home to face Clifton Alliance 🏡

As we come to the end of the season, we are delighted to announce further details of our presentation evening to celebrate individual and team success in what’s been a great 2026 season 🏏

🚪Doors and bar will be open from 5:45pm

🐟🍟 The Yorkshire Fish & Chip Company van will be on site and serving from 6pm! Purchasing is open to EVERYONE. Whether you’re coming for the event, or just fancy nipping down to grab your dinner - the fish and chip van will cater to everyone 😀

🏆 Junior presentations will start 7:15pm, with senior presentations taking place at 8:45pm

🎤 Singer Charlie Fielding will be performing 2x sets - with the first starting at 8pm!

The 3rd XI cap the weekend with a win over Hensall 3s 🏏

A superb bowling and fielding performance restricted the Hensall team to 147. Ben Walker was the pick of the bowlers with his 3/21, nicely supported by Kieron Smith 2/5. There was a wicket apiece for Ethan Umbo, Coran Smith, Harry Longhurst, and Matty Atkinson.

With the bat, some early wickets had Drax looking like they may be in trouble as they fell to 56/5. But, in came Ethan Umbo to hit a blistering 45* not out off 28, and was brilliantly supported by Ben Walker 37* not out with another great knock to lead the team to victory 🤝

Ben Walker is the player of the match for his leading spell with the ball, and valuable runs in the middle order. Well played Ben! 👏
