Good evening everyone

Thank you to all the volunteers and please remember we are always looking for volunteers for future events, so please let us know if you’d like to be included.

It’s going to be a slightly cooler than of late so volunteers you may need a 🧥 or jumper, and runners you’ll love have cool it feels.

A reminder to please use our car park 🅿️ off Common Lane, as there is no access from Burn Gliding Club. ✈️.

Wrens will be on site with a selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks, please say hi to Jennie.

If you are celebrating a milestone, or if you are new to parkrun or are travelling from afar. Please let me know and I can give you a shout out.

First timer briefing will take place about 8.50 followed by the safety briefing at 8.55 to set you off on time at 9.00.

Don’t forget your barcode.

See you all in the morning. Tracy.

Selby parkrun 377. The one after the cancelled event due to lack of volunteers.

272 people completed our out and back course with pacers from 20 mins. A special shout out to pacers Paul Hampson 40 mins and Micheal West 33 mins who I failed to mention at brief.

This event is only possible if people give up a run every so often and volunteer. Those special people today are pictured, without them parkrun would just be a run in the park.

Knowing that half attendees won’t see this, we need to make more of volunteering on the morning. Thanks to those that chose to give up a run and support Selby. Top people.

Pete.

Post update 3pm
we now need a second timer keeper. Unavoidable change of plans for our existing timer keeper.

Loads of pacers still required. Oh and if you want to give more support we have marshal and 1k to give some cheer.

Selby parkrun 377 - Pacing Event.

parkrunners, last week things didn’t go to plan, Selby parkrun needs your help.

Please consider what needs to be different to encourage people to give up a run and volunteer to put the event on?

For me it was disappointing that last weekends event did not go to plan. I believe all parkrunners who wished to attend last weekend will have be equally disappointed. As Run Directors we will reflect and understand what needs to be different to avoid further cancellations and for this I ask for your help.

All that said, we are in an extremely good position this week for volunteers. Selby parkrun has 7 of the 10 non-running roles filled. We need 3 more people not to run and volunteer in order for the event to go ahead. Another 3 people giving up their run will mean around 250 people can do what they enjoy on a Saturday morning. Full support will be given by our current volunteers to support you if you decide to volunteer to help out.

We still require:-
Timer keeper

We now have.
1 finish token support ✅ Sally ❤️
1 scanner ✅ Jen ❤️
1 Funnel Manager✅ Ben. ❤️

Selby parkrun pacers, The challenge is to have a pacer for every minute 17 through to 40. If you’ve never paced before, please put aside any unease and give it a go, choose a time perhaps a couple minutes slower than you’d usually run and enjoy supporting others hit their target.

Available pacing vest are 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 39.

Selby parkrun is CANCELLED for tomorrow, Saturday 22nd August.

We simply don't have enough volunteers for this event to go ahead.

This a big shame for everyone concerned especially when we again had over 300 participants last weekend.

A massive thank you to those who did offer to volunteer and we'll try again next weekend.
