Another scorcher of a day ☀️🥵 but with a little more breeze than yesterday.
Owners have spent the day popping by. Some for regular flying visits and others making the most of their day off to sit back in the shade and ‘just be’.
Lots of showers 🚿, ice lollies 🧊, bobbing for watermelon 🍉 and carrots 🥕 Not to mention copious amounts of suncream🧴 slathered over all the pink areas and fly spray generously applied 🪰
According to the yard weather oracle it’s supposed to get wet and stormy by the weekend ⛈️😳 We shall just have to wait and see whether that actually comes to pass or not. In the meantime- more 🍏 ice lollies 🧊are in the freezer and juicy watermelon 🍉 ready to go.

Great advice from Tor Equine Veterinary Practice

During this heatwave ☀️🥵 even in the stables that have a high roof or an insulated roof as well as large windows our owners have reached for the fans to increase airflow if they have brought in during the day (or part of the day). Others have left 🐴out in the paddocks and made use of field shelters and trees 🌴.
Everyone is reaching for the hose 🚿, providing extra water 💧 , some are making ice lollies 🧊on a daily basis, others are offering sloppy mash and all are supporting one another to come up with ingenious ideas on how to help their horses stay comfortable and safe as well as providing regular updates and reassurance on the group chat of their observations as they pop up during the day and evening.

Honestly, it’s hard to tell who loves these cool downs more — horses or humans 😂

Although not caught on camera The Big Ginger Boy also enjoyed a couple of refreshing showers plus a Cooling Sloshwash made by Natural Equine (grapefruit, lavender, sweet marjoram… smells gorgeous!). Tomorrow he’s switching to Proequine Coolwash for a peppermint, tea tree and aloe combo.

They do say variety is the spice of life and if you can’t mix it up when you’re experiencing a heatwave when can you? ☀️😎💦

Looking at this photo I think it’s safe to say that the Small Unicorn definitely enjoys her showers 🚿 (as does her owner and her owner’s gran 😂)
