Seascale Golf Club Report 15th June 2026
In reasonable weather one hundred and sixteen men played Wednesday's Multi Tee Medal (Aggregate 6 of 16). The Division 1 winner was Terry Russell with his round of 67, the Day's Best. Eric Gulliksen on 68 came second. Two 69s followed with Lewis Baker taking third place with his Back 9 of 33, beating Gary Wroe with a (B9/36) into fourth. There was another tie to lead Division 2, where Keith Pickup with a round of 69 and a B9/33 beat Andrew Prince's B9/36. Robert Temple took third place on 70, followed by Phil Haig who claimed fourth place with the best Back 3 of three 71s. Moving to Division 3, Henry Jackson won with 69, then Wayne Howland took second on 70. Michael Cooper with his round of 71(B9/31) came third then Colin Price also 71 but B9/34 came fourth. Seven Twos were recorded. James Stothers won the Opt-In Gross prize with his round of 72.
After six rounds, there was no change in the leaders of the Aggregate with Mark Harris on 436 claiming first and John Taylor 461 second.
On Saturday we were delighted to host GDF's Charity Golf Day and help raise funds for Great North Air Ambulance. The competition, an Open Four Person Team Texas Scramble attracted thirty six teams. The weather was fair but the players had to contend with very strong winds throughout the day. The three winners were first, the Seascale team comprising Kyle Stamp/Ryan Gray/Ellison Holgateand Jay Weatherill with 53nett and a Back9 of 24 who beat the St. Bees team of Gavyn Seager/John Seagar/Mark Keeler and Harry Keeler, who also returned 53 but with a B9/27. In third place came Mark Bedford/Greg Bedford/Daniel Law(Workington) and Kevin Routledge(Cockermouth) with 54nett. The Best Gross prize went to the Seascale Team of Dave Stubbings/Jack Stubbings/Lewis Baker and Tony Rushforth with their round of 62
One hundred and one played Sunday's Monthly Medal (Aggregate 7of 15). The Division1 winner was Chris Gardner with his round of 68(B6/21). William Douglas also on 68 but B6/23 took second place. Michael Keenan's 70 earned him third spot with Andrew Wallace fourth on 71. Robert Temple with the Day's Best 67, won Division 2, then David Stentiford came second on 68, Tony Newton third on 73 and fourth John Curwen on 74. John Owens, 68 won Division3 by four shots, followed by three 72s where countback awarded Steve Palmer second with B9/29, John Gibbons third B9/35 and Irving Bragg fourth With B9/38. There were five Twos recorded. Jack Stubbings followed up his Gross win in GDF competition by winning the Opt-In Gross prize with his round of 73(B9/34), beating Chris Gardner also on 73 but Back9/36.
