Seascale Golf Club Report 31st Aug. 2026
Sixty five pairs from clubs throughout the North of England played our Annual Seniors Open 4BBB, in very warm conditions. The winning duo with 44pts comprised Steve Jackson partnered by Colin Wilson both from Workington Golf Club. In second place and flying the flag for Seascale, came Norman Thompson/John Gibbons with 43pts. This was followed by two 42s, where David Todd and Adrian Harris from Sedbergh pipped John Fisher/Dave MacKenzie from St Bees into fourth place by virtue of the Better Back 1. After another countback Rob Blythe and Michael Benn (Seascale) came fourth with the best of three 40s.
The next competition was a Multi Tee Stableford on Wednesday with ninety nine members still enjoying fair weather. Craig Connor and David Kilgour both returned 37pts, Craig taking second place with B9/20 while David had B9/18. Computer then had to work overtime as no fewer than eight competitors returned 35pts. Countback awarded Benjamin Wilson third place B9/19 and Jack Stainton B9/18 fourth. Colin Mitchell's 38pts(B9/21), was enough to win him Division 2 from Rodger Temple's 38(B9/15). Three 37s followed with David Jenkinson (B9/19) claiming third and Brian Proctor B9/17 taking fourth. With 42pts, the Day's Best, Colin Price led Division 3, then Robin Adair's 38pts earned him second place. Jason Symons on 36pts(B9/21) slotted into third, leaving Adam Blackburn also 36pts but B9/15. Craig Connor won the Opt-In Gross with 31pts and there were nine valid Twos.
Sunday saw seventy two members sign in for The Dave Tomkinson Trophy, in Medal format. Jason Symons lifted the Trophy with a superb round of 62nett. Four behind on 66, Chris Shepherd was Runner-Up. Colin Mitchell came third with 69(B6/23) and Nick Blair fourth also 69 but B6/24. Henry Strong claimed 5th with 70, John Brocklebank 6th with 71(B6/24) and Alex Johnstone 7th, also with 71 but B6/26. Don Weavers slotted into 8th place with 72. Tom Porter and Gordon Hennis both had rounds of 73 to take 9th and 10th respectively, Tom with the better B9.
David Stamp took the Gross prize his round of 75 and the Opt-In Gross prize went to the only entrant, Craig Connor with 79.
This competition was also the 14th of 16 rounds of the Medal Aggregate and it saw Alex Johnstone move up to 1st place with a total of 642 knocking Mark Harris who has led throughout the Competition into second place with 646 total. Watto Watson retains third place with 653.
