Brilliant day at Sacriston Ladies Cricket Team festival today. They’re a lovely team and our lasses always like playing there and today didn’t disappoint

Our group was Murton, Great Eccleston who randomly but brilliantly had come up north from Blackpool for the weekend on the 🍺 and picked up a festival while they were here (kudos 👌) and Sacriston.

We won all 3 group games setting up a playoff semi final against South Hetton Cricket & Social Club where we came out winners despite a great performance by them.

This set up a final v Dawdon. Batting first we restricted Dawdon to 58. Coming into bat we hit 64 taking the trophy and a bottle of Prosecco 🏆

Every lass contributed today it was a great effort, Hutch was missing from the pic at the end but massively contributed to our win 👏

Absolutely blown away by our Tempest overs team.

We went into tonight’s last game of the season away at Castle Eden Ladies Cricket Club with both teams unbeaten all season, and that’s a great feat in itself given the quality of the league

We knew it would be tough, we haven’t played Castle Eden in the overs league but looking at their stats they have done brilliant in both bat and field

We lost the toss and Castle Eden elected to bat. They batted really well and posted 107/4 with Helen Todner taking 3 brilliant wickets and Adele Brown taking the other 👏 aside from the wickets though the field was brilliant with sliding tackle stops not least from Allyson Beardmore and Gemma Cook to save boundaries. Not gonna lie we were over the moon to keep it to 107 as we knew their batters were really good

Going into bat we knew we just needed to tick them over and that’s exactly what it did however I must have been close to a coronary as we came to the last few overs!

A superb 28/13 by Reanne Rooney set us away 🙇‍♀️. Helen, Caroline Hodgson and Gemma Cook were all excellent as their stats show 👏 . Kim and Adele were unlucky with some excellent bowling by Castle Eden.

This left Jenny Robinson (4 from 6) and Ally (22 from 27) to get us over the line by 5 wickets. The team all held their nerve, outwardly if not inwardly as my Apple Watch heart rate will testify!

Honestly I’m so so proud to captain this team, 3 seasons in and we have won trophies but I think this is def my proudest given the quality of the teams and the way every single player has contributed.

Thanks Castle Eden, yous have been brilliant all season and your stats prove that, a genuinely excellent set of cricketers 👏 👏

Tournament winners!

Great day for our lasses today In Philadelphia’s tournament.

Tough group with Hetton Lyon’s, Marsden and Philadelphia saw us come out with 3/3 wins to top the group 👏

This set us up for a final v Seaham Harbour who had topped their group.

A brilliant (and I mean brilliant) field/bowing innings saw us restrict the harbour to 61 after taking 4 wickets.

In the bat the boundaries kept coming and we finished on a massive 176! Huge shout out to Suzy Farn who smacked 6 6’s in a row for what she faced!!

Overall it was a brilliant team effort and every single lass played mint

Thanks Philadelphia Ladies Cricket Team your first tournament and yous smashed it, was really good thanks so much

Hard game at the park tonight for the ladies v Hetton Lyons CC Ladies Team.

It was always gonna be difficult as they’re a great team and the wind def didn’t help our cause but same for both teams

Hetton opened the batting and struck off 106/4 with Deborah May and Reanne Rooney taking 2 wickets each. In terms of economy rate Helen Todner and Reanne top with 3.5 both taking only 14 runs off their 4 overs each 👏

The Park took the bat and started well but falling of wickets made it a bum twitching night!!

Reanne hit 21 from 15, Helen 21 from 24 and Adele 16 fr 12. Massive shout out to Kim Teasdale who steadied the ship and got us over the line with 18 from 25 👏

We finished with a win by 2 wickets but Hetton put in a great shift, particularly in the field and made it really difficult for us. Well done lasses, lovely game as always

1 game left and it’s a league decider between ourselves and Castle Eden. Will post details near the time but all support massively appreciated.

Brilliant performance by the lasses away at Eppleton in the Overs league tonight taking the win by 60 runs taking us top of the league 👏

Batting first the pick of the batters Sofia Howe and Kim Teasdale who both retired on 27 👏 Reanne Rooney did her usual smashing 19 off 8 and Adele Brown 22 from 15. Great contributions from rest of the lasses saw us see out the 20 overs 153/6

In the field we were excellent, not often I can say this but we were sensible 😂 let the singles tick over and protected the boundaries superbly.
Pick of the bowlers Allyson Beardmore 2 wickets and only 4 runs from 3 overs 👏 Jenny Robinson followed up with a wicket and only 6 runs from 2 overs, Helen Todner matched this with 9 runs from 3 overs

Excellent all round performance and shout out to Sofia and Michelle Howe today playing together just like Danny and Richard at the weekend!

Shout out also to our young uns Lucy and Sofia who put in excellent all round performances

Also soz to Suzy Farn who I missed off the batting 🫣🫣

Great night for both ladies teams tonight 🏏

Our Sapphires faced a tough game at home to Hetton Lyon’s who have a great squad/team set up and always make it a hard game.

Hetton went into bat first and they posted 182/3.

Pick of the bowlers an outstanding Sofia Howe 3 overs for just 13 runs, Mandi Johal 2 overs for 12 runs and Lucy Gallagher 3 overs for 23. Wickets for Deb Neil, Kim Teasdale and Mandi Johal.

In the bat we posted 207/4. A brilliant opening from Kim 40 off just 16 balls (5 6s 2 4s) ⭐! Sofia 36 off 15 (3 6s 4 4s) and Mandi 27 off 16 (4 6s 3 4s) with the rest of the lasses also putting in great innings.

Shout out to Grace from Hetton Lyon’s who hit a superb 59 off just 15 balls (7 6s 4 4s) 😮 👏

The Royals played against Eppleton Cricket club, it was a great game against a lovely team and our lasses luckily came out winners by 52 runs.

Batting first the park lasses set a great target ⭐ Reanne smashed 54 off just 16 balls (6 6s and 4 4s)😮 Gemma 39 off 16 (4 6s and 2 4s) and Ally 22 off 15 (2 6s and 3 4s - lost a wicket) the lasses finished on 188

In the field the lasses did a great job restricting Eppleton to 146 with wickets for Ally, Helen, Jen and Reanne.

Overall a great team performance which keeps the lasses in contention for the league.

Good luck to Eppleton for the rest of the season, it was a pleasure as always our lasses always have great craic with yous 👏 hope Elise knee is ok (apols if spelt that wrong!) lasses are asking after her

What a season it has been for our U9 Sparks girls! Finishing 2nd in the league is an incredible achievement 🏆
As the areas only all girls U9s team, this makes their success even more special. It is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by every player throughout the season. Every single girl has come so far, making huge improvements week after week with a fantastic attitude. From the smiles on their faces to the teamwork they’ve shown on and off the pitch, this group has made everyone proud. Well done, girls – the future is bright! 🏆👏
