This week we have had an angling direct team member on our lake with his dad fishing pegs 4-5 doing a 24 hour session, within the session 7 fish were caught and one lost. 4 carp were caught to 17lb and 3 bream caught to 6lb. The bait they used on the trip was angling direct spicy crab boilies and wafters and pop ups. 12-15mil. The bait was loosely scattered in a large area resulting in the carp and bream moving around in open water and against the w**d line opposite peg 5. The reason they scattered the bait was so that the fish wouldn’t be able to determine which bait was attached to the hook. Size 8 curve shank hooks were used using a D kicker to separate the wafter and a stiff hinge rig for the pop up due to the silty bottom. A semi stiff coated hook length was attached to the stiff hinge rig instead of boom material. The gentleman who fished the 24 hour session advised me that this is the best session they have had on the lake so now we know the lake is still producing throughout the late stages of the year. 👍😀😀😀.

Great write up from Wear Valley Angling who supports disabled anglers 😎

Had a session at watergate fishery Murton today. I was coaching 2 disabled anglers. The weather was somewhat against us rain and a cold wind. We had a delayed start and didn’t get a rod in water until after 10.30am
The session started really well with one of the guys getting a fully scaled mirror @ 12.5 lb on his first cast. We had nothing more until about 3pm when the same client had another mirror at 10lb. Unfortunately the other client had nothing but overall considering conditions it was a good session.
Watergate is a lovely fishery and thanks to Lee for allowing Wear Valley Angling to use his facilities for coaching.
