Lads are into the next round 🙌🏻
The lads get the season off and running after winning on penalties against a strong opposition. Seaham Park had numerous of chances to take the lead in the first half but Birtley seemed to have come back and create a few good opportunities in the second half to put Seaham Park on the back foot. After a close 90 minutes of football between the two teams it came down to a penalty shootout to decide who moves on to the next stage of the cup.
Billy Chisholm stepped up for the Park to take the first penalty but hit the crossbar to put the lads on the back foot. However young Ben Thirkell stepped up and saved Birtley second penalty taking it back to evens between the two teams. Birtley final penalty taker stepped up and the nerves must have got the better of him and missed the target. Matthew Mustard then stepped up and calmly slotted our final penalty past the keeper to send the lads into the next round of the cup.
