💛 To every SEND parent as September begins and the new school year starts, we want you to know that we see you and we are here to support your journey 🌈
Social media will be flooded with first day back to school photos 🎒📚 but behind the social media front there are thousands of SEND families whose September looks very, very different.
SEND journeys are rarely straightforward.
Wherever your child’s journey begins with school, no school, waiting for a place, alternative provision, home education, EOTAS, reduced timetable, or still trying to figure out what comes next. Their differences, their needs, their strengths and their struggles are all valid.
Sometimes the bravest thing a family can do is recognise that something isn’t working and find another way. But sometimes, finding the right path takes time. 👍
There can be meetings, paperwork, waiting lists, appeals, phone calls, tears, guilt and exhaustion and days when you wonder how you’re going to keep going.
Another day another fight towards EHCPs, a suitable placement, transport, funding or the right support so that a child feels safe enough to learn.
There is no perfect SEND journey. There is only the journey that works best for YOUR child. 💛So please don’t compare your child’s September to someone else’s.
