While we do get away for great trips to Scapa, Shetland, Mull etc each year, we also enjoy our club evening and weekend dives.

Recently some of our Sports Diver and Advanced Diver candidates were building evidence for their qualifications on local wrecks, using our 6, ladder fitted RHIB.

One member- Fran Moreno (instagram: ) - took some great photographs of the life on the BRIGHTMAN and STUARTS COURT. Unfortunately the mini-squid moved too fast but we're a treat.

Lovely surface conditions for a club day out to Eyemouth to dive the GLANMIRE Wreck at 28m then Ebb Carr at 17m.

66mins in the GLANMIRE as visibility was circa 10m with loads of life to see. The group saw plenty of fish life inckuding flat fish, ling, lump suckers, eels and s massive butter fish. Couple of ghost nets though.

Nice warm water at around 16 degrees too, so overall a very please day.

East Durham Divers assisted a member of the public with recovery of an expensive and sentimental watch today. Fortunately all that Search and Recovery training came in handy.

Within 7 hours of notification, the team had made contact with the owner to understand the loss area, obtained harbour master permission, conducted a site safety check, formed a plan with contingencies and conducted a systematic search which revealed the watch in 0.5m of visabilty at 7.5m depth.

The watch was under a lobster who was clearly trying to claim it for themselves.

One happy owner with some happy club divers.

Very pleasant dive on the Cider wreck out of South Shields last night for some members, alongside the Aquanorth group and on Voyager boat with Bob. More diving planned for the weekend. 5meter visibility and no meaningful current. Lot's of life seen. Great stuff.

Cracking dives day from the larger of the clubs two RHIBs. Weather was in our favour, although the visabilty was slightly less than expected, but it didn't stop our divers enjoying the 33m deep ship wreck exploration and marine life spotting. Abit of boat handling practice and trying new shotlines out as well. Divers were a mix of CCR, single with Pony and Single with stage.

This week the club had several successful dive, including evening dives to make the most of it.

Wednesday had great conditions surface side which was bliss. Underwater visabilty was great. This stayed for those who dived Saturday and Sunday which was all the better to see the wrecks and life which lives on them. Highlight today was a lovely blue and orange cuckoo wrasse.

When the swell got alittle more forceful, our ladders made recovering divers easy.

We had a combination of singles, singles&pony's and Closed circuit rebreather out, making the most of it.

Club divers had a fun day out on the larger of our two RHIBs on Sunday for a bit of wreck diving and underwater photography by Fran. Weather conditions were great for it. Our new ladder made getting back on board a dream too. Happy and safe divers.

Another from Shetland...we can see John exploring inside a shipwreck at 42m when a part falls off onto him. Fortunately it made for a funny story. Still very much sn adventure.
