Ladies 2nd XI Finish the Season with a Win! 🏏
Our Ladies 2nd XI travelled away to Peterlee tonight for our final game of the season — and what a way to finish!
We batted first. Debbie and Sue opened the innings and got us off to a solid start, putting on 32 runs together.

Amber and Elaine came next, with Amber showing some fantastic hitting and finding the boundary for some excellent fours and sixes. 💥

Fern and India followed, keeping the scoreboard ticking with some quick running between the wickets.

Stacey and Donna were the final pair to bat and produced some excellent shots all around the pitch, helping us put together a strong total.

Then came the bowling — and what a performance from the whole team! Every bowler was outstanding in some tricky weather conditions, with Amber and Elaine both taking important wickets. 👏

Our fielding was absolutely amazing, with everyone putting in a huge effort. Donna and Amber certainly did their fair share of running and helped keep the pressure on throughout the game.

Some fantastic tactical decisions towards the end saw us secure the win and finish our season on a real high. 🎉

Honestly, this was the best we have played all season. The effort, teamwork, determination and support from everyone involved made it such a special way to finish.

A huge thank you to Aiden and Adam for umpiring and to Emmie for scoring. We really appreciate you giving up your time to support us.

And finally, a massive thank you to our brilliant supporters on the sidelines who braved the cold conditions to cheer us on. Your support means so much to us!

Tonight, Murton ladies met Sunderland ladies at home in a 20 overs game in poor weather conditions.

Sunderland batted first and did remarkably with 3 ladies retiring.
Some lovely bowling from India, brought Murton’s only wicket of the game.

Murton’s opening batting pair gave us a very strong start, with Debbie retiring and Donna hitting 20 runs but it wasn’t our night.

We go again tomorrow with the 2XI pairs in action at Peterlee 6pm start

Another Sunday, another Festival.

Murton Ladies made the journey to Sacriston for an afternoon of cricket 🏏
Captained by Elaine, we found ourselves in tough group with Seaham Park, Sacriston and had the pleasure of Great Eccleston, who travelled all the way from Blackpool - which as you can imagine, that got us thinking… Murton Ladies on tour! ✈️🚆🚌😂

Whilst it wasn’t our afternoon on the results front, with 5 games and just one win, we had a fantastic time nonetheless and some personal wins with 2 catches each from Jackie, Elaine, Debbie, 4 from Jill and an amazing wicket from Victoria! Catherine took one for the team in the last match to help out the lovely ladies from Whickham, who were short on players.

Shout out to our special guest player, Lucy, who travelled over from Australia 🇦🇺 and showcased her brilliant bowling, along with Jackie, and Jill who got a maiden.

Well done to our neighbours Seaham Park on winning the festival and a huge thank you to Sacriston for hosting such a well-run and enjoyable festival. We’re already looking forward to next year! 💙🏏

What a fantastic day at MEGAFEST 2026! 🏏❤️ We were delighted to take part in the third year of this brilliant event at The Banks Homes, Riverside in Chester-le-Street, with 37 women’s cricket teams coming together to celebrate the game. Murton were in a group with Marsden, Whickham and Sunderland, and there was some fantastic batting, bowling and excellent catches throughout the day. A huge thank you to the Durham Cricket Foundation for making MEGAFEST happen, and to Emmie for scoring and Phil and Jack for umpiring. A great day for women’s cricket! 🏏👏

🏏🏏For the second weekend running both the 1st team and 2nd team won.

The 1st Team featuring 4 under 17 players beat second in the league Marsden in a low scoring game at home. A superb opening spell of bowling from Graeme Martin 5/19 and Ross Salkeld 4/30 saw us dismiss Marsden for 57 on a decent wicket Sam Raine taking the final wicket.

In reply we made hard work of chasing down the total losing 7 wickets before Graeme and Alfie saw us home to win by 3 wickets. A top bowling and fielding performance.

The 2nd team batted first away to Belmont and put on 243 in their 40 overs thanks in the main to 85 from 81 balls from Leon Marley playing only his second game back Peely also chipped in with 30.

In reply we dismissed Belmont for 129 with Ethan Garside and Maser each taking 3 wickets each there were also wickets for Peely, Daniel and Leon.

Yesterday at the Durham Cricket Foundation Grassroots Awards Alan Welburn won the award for Male Coach of the Year.

Alan coaches our under 9 teams and has worked all winter and summer with this fabulous group.

A fantastic day yesterday at the Durham Cricket Foundation Grassroots Cricket Awards.

David Cain picked up the award for Junior Section Growth for his work with our Women and Girls section and the Super 4s.

What an amazing achievement given there were over 200 nominations for this year’s awards.

What a fantastic day for women's and girls' cricket at Murton Cricket Club! 💙🏏

Our U17 girls were in action in the Super 4s across two venues today, representing the club brilliantly at Durham City and Brandon Cricket Club.

A huge congratulations to Imogen, who achieved a personal best of 35 not out*, and Amelia, who finished on 28 not out*. 👏

Well done also to Evie, Sophie and Libby – you all did Murton Cricket Club proud today. It was great to see improvements across the whole squad, with everyone continuing to develop their skills and confidence.

The day then moved on to Sacriston for our ladies' XI match, where there was some fantastic batting and fielding on display. A special mention goes to Debbie, who retired after a fab innings. Well played! 👏

Most importantly, all of our girls and ladies had fun, supported each other, and continue to build some amazing friendships through cricket. That's what it's all about. ❤️

Last week the Durham County U13 girls team were victorious for the 2nd year running winning the Kings Cricket Festival in Taunton.

Representing the girls was our own U13, Emmie.

During the festival, Emmie scored her first half century, delivered excellent performances behind the stumps and on the field.

Well done Emmie, what a great achievement and everyone at the club is super proud of you.
