The women’s team welcomed Steyning Development to the Crouch on Sunday afternoon for the latest game in our league season.
With a heavy pitch, beautiful football was certainly not on the agenda and it was always going to be a question of who could respond to the conditions first.
It was Seaford who reacted best in the early stages, with Gracie Plummer opening the scoring in the 8th minute from inside the box.
As the half wore on Steyning begun trying to get their passing game going, but a stort Seaford defence restricted them to chances from distance.

The opening exchanges to the 2nd half, we’re fast and frantic and Steyning came out trying to get on the front foot early on. But once Seaford settled into their stride they begun to enjoy possession in the Steyning half. Plummer won Seaford a free kick on the right side of the box, and a Kim Hunt free kick was neatly finished by Chloe Treagus at the back post on 55.
On the hour mark Seaford introduction young Imogen Pook. Imogen is the first player from our U16 team to step up and play for the senior side, showing all the hard work on our development pathway is starting to pay off.
Pook didn’t take long to get into her stride, starting a couple of quick counter attacks, before scoring on her debut with a smart finish in the 80th minute following a delightful ball from Natasha Young. Pook almost had a second in the final minutes which was cleared off the line, and at the other end Amy Hubbe-Nelson saved smartly to keep Seaford’s clean sheet.

We have to give great credit to Joe and his Steyning side. What a fantastic bunch they were and they did not stop working hard and trying all game. Even on a difficult pitch they kept trying to play football and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.
As for Seaford, a well executed game plan from all involved and valuable 3 points.
