Winny FC are a local scunthorpe team made up of lads that all have previous experience playing together and have joined up to create a sunday leagie side hoping to compete at the best level possible.We strive for hard work, dedication and punctuality 🖤❤️

Winny fc vs Athletico Utd
Final score winny 4 Athletico 3

After suffering defeat in the cup last week we arranged a friendly with Athletico after a draw between the 2 sides during pre season.

It would be Athletico who would get the early lead after a positive start from both teams and would make the game 1-0. Number 21 for Athletico would then chuck his arms in the air almost catching the ball and then argue he never touched it however the penalty was given and it would be slotted away by Malachi Arnold to level the game. 1-1. Shortly after Winny found themselves on the edge of the opposition box which was taken by new signing chop yar which would float over the keeper and equalising with a debut goal. 2-1. And that would end the first half.

Winny then started strong and it would take 15 minutes for another goal which came from Tyler O’Shea lobbing the keeper from about 40 yards out! 3-1. The gaffer then made an appearance and almost replicated Tyler’s goal however it just fell above the crossbar. Athletico would then strike twice in quick succession giving them 2 goals and hope to get third and win the game however winny would break on the counter and a cut back from Lewis Mitchell would fall to the feet Tyler O’Shea who would get his second and the winner making the game 4-3 winny. The game would then finish with the scoreline.

Cheers to Athletico for the competitive game and eagerness to get the friendly sorted all the best for the rest of the season.

After a few weeks of the lads we’re back in league action just before the Christmas break.

Winny would start the first 10 minutes knocking the ball about brilliantly resulting in an early goal with Malachi Arnold slotting the ball under the keeper making the game 1-0. However Blyton would soon respond from a dodgey free kick given after Baino made an outstanding tackle which even the opposition was impressed with however the ref thought otheriwise and the free kick was well taken making the game 1-1. A few minutes later we would have a free kick around 25/30 yards out taken by Connor wright which was whipped to perfection going over everyone lobbing the keeper (2-1 Winny). But once again Blyton would instantly respond through sloppy defensive errors levelling the game at half time to 2-2.

We started the second half strong and Connor wright would stand over another free kick which was floated in and smartly headed away by Tyler O’Shea to make the game 3-2. Blyton yet again would capatalise on winny errors to once again level the game to 3-3. Against the run of play Blyton would go and score again and take the lead for the first time in the game (4-3 Blyton). The lads stepped up a gear for the last half hour and after another floated ball in from Connor the ball would drop to Andy southern who set Jay to score which he will take as his however sources tell me it may of been an own goal? (4-4) Winny would then continue the pressure with Brandon Wik finding the ball at his feet and neatly slotting the ball away making the game 5-4 winny. In the last few minutes the pressure kept coming as Brandon Wik would drive with the ball and hit an absolute Beauty from distance the keeper had no chance and the game would finish 6-4 winny.

Overall we made the game a lot more difficult than it should and we know we are a lot better than shown. A few silly mistakes cost us a few goals however the 3 points is the most inportant thing.
Thanks to Blyton for the great game and showing resilliance all the best for the rest of the season and from winny we hope you all have a good Christmas. Few weeks break and we will be back again in January ready. UPTW ❤️🖤

With a week off the lads were faced with a tough challenge away from home against recoveries in a friendly.

Winny would start the first half poor conceding 2 early goals from our own errors and inside 20 minutes we would find ourselves 2-0 down. Just after we would start to get the ball on the floor and would find a goal through Jay Southern making it 2-1. Recoveries would instantly reply straight from kick off and find their 3rd to make it 3-1 and that would be the score going into the second half.

A harsh talk was put in place and the lads knew it wasn’t good enough for their standard so they picked themselves up ready to battle the second half.

Winny starting very strong and Tyler oshea would break through with a nice passage of play to make the game 3-2. Yet again the momentum would be cut short as recoveries would find there 4th of the game making it 4-2. However Winny would show great character and fight when Baino would float a ball into the box almost beating the keeper which was tipped onto the bar and fell to the feet of Jay southern to find his second to make the game 4-3. In the last 5 minutes winny had a free kick just shy of the edge of the box which Connor wright would stand over and curl it round the wall and in the net to equalise making the game 4-4. In the last seconds Jay southern was absolutely wiped out by the goalkeeper which somehow was given as a fouls to recoveries in which I’m assuming the ref forgot to wipe his glasses. Final score 4-4.

Thanks to recoveries for a great game and giving us a challenge ready for burton next week in the league.

After a poor performance last week we were looking for our second win in a row to be back on winning track. The lads arrived early in good spirit ready for the battle.

Winny started strong creating chances and would find an early goal from a corner whipped in and a glancing header from Brandon Wik would find the bottom corner making the game 1-0 Winny . We carried on the onslought and after being brought down inside the box Brandon Wik would win Winny a penalty which was calmlessly slotted away by Sami Crooks for his first goal in red and black. Shortly after steel town midfielder would hit a peach of a volley which was brilliantly saved by Baino. Winny would win a free kick which was was whipped into a dangerous area by Connor wright looping the keeper and going in directly from the free kick (3-0) Winny. Yet again seconds later Connor wright found himself standing over another free kick this time in shooting distance and wow it didn’t disappoint a beautifully clean strike bending into the top corner, the keeper could of set off the night before and still not of got to it. Half time Winny 4 Steel Town 0.

After a superb first half the boys carried on playing the ball about well however later on in the second half steel town forward would break through and slot it past the keeper with a conciliation goal making the game 4-1. Despite not scoring in the second half Winny played brilliant football and worked extremely hard.The game would finish 4-1 Winny.

Thanks steel town for coming together to get this fixture played. And for bringing a good game, good luck in the rest of the season lads.

Week of next weekend and back into action the following weekend against our bogey team burton which we MUST turn up for!

Final score Winny 4 Broughton 2

After a couple weeks out the lads were back in action in the league.

Winny started strong finding the net early on with a tidy finish from Dec Southern to make the game 1-0 . Shortly after Winny would find a second from Tyler O’Shea to make the game 2-0 the ref had a shocker missing 3 stonewall penalties which apparently weren’t. The first half finished 2-0 Winny.

A few changes were made and the lads went back out ready. It was a slow second half where we struggled to play our football and a few lads starting getting frustrated with the poor level of refereeing and Broughtons best player being there Lino who possibly didn’t know he was allowed to put his flag down. However we would find a third later on through Malachi making the game 3-0 . Minutes after Tyler O’Shea would receive a second yellow after a silly challenge putting us down to 10 men and having to work that extra hard.

Broughton soon found a goal out of nowhere and gave them a bit of hope. Within the last 10 minutes Winny would find a 4th through Malachi hitting the crossbar and the rebound falling at Brandon Wiks feet for a tap in. In the last minute of the game Broughton had a set free kick which was whipped and headed away brilliantly in all fairness nothing we could’ve don’t to stop it.

Overall not our best performance and deserved a lot more out of the game than what we got but the most important thing is 3 points onto next week where we play steel town. Thanks to Broughton for giving us a good game. UPTW❤️🖤

Final score winny 2 Barnetby 6

We started poor conceding 3 goals inside the first 10/15 with our cb coming off injured with a potential mcl injury. Despite the very poor start not a single head went down and would instant reply with a goal of our own from a very well taken finish by Brandon Botfield giving us hope. Barnetby would then find a 4th from another ball through the defence was making use of the pace they had up top and the first half would finish 4-1.

No heads were down and we knew we had to react to try get something out of the game. We upped our game and started the half strong with a goal coming from a winny throw and Tyler O’Shea would take a player on and slot the ball into the top right corner (4-2). Winny would carry on the attack but it would result in barnetby finding abit of quality out wide and finding another goal making it 5-2. With 15/20 minutes left it was either go all out to try and get something or give up. Winny would fight to the end but in the last couple of minutes Barnetby will get would fire home a rocket and the full time whistle would blow finishing 6-2 to Barnetby.

MOTM Blake Broughton for a solid display at RB and fighting for every ball with a fantastic goal clearance stopping a goal.

Cheers to Barnetby for the game and giving us a kick up the arse. Credit to the lads for not giving up once and fighting till the end onto next weekend back in league action UPTW ❤️🖤

For the second week in a row we were down to a bare 11 with the gaffer having to stick a kit on!

The game started of nervous with both teams not really getting the upper hand and both teams creating chances resulting in a very even first half. Winny were playing good football better than in recent weeks and found a lot of possession during the game however, it would be Henry’s to find the net first midway through the first half and ending the first half 1-0 Henry’s.

After a good team talk from the lads we had our heads high in hope to get something from the game as we knew we were more than capable.

We started strong but soon into the half after a mistake at the back Henry’s forward would react on a bad back pass and slot the ball into the back of the net making the game 2-0. Winny would then have a good 10-15 minutes trying to get back into the game playing brilliant possessive football however nothing was put away and against the run of play Henry’s would capitalise on Winny throwing men up the pitch and counter ending in a goal finished from a saved first attempt and tapped in on the rebound finishing the game 3-0.

Overall a good performance football wise and on the opposite end a poor performance with a few silly mistakes and chances not taken.

MOTM Jack Macdonald for his brilliant defensive display and stopping a few chances that could have changed the score. Shoutout to Sami Crooks with his best performance to date and constantly improving week in and week out (we notice the improvement,well done).

Onto next week in the second round of the cup against Barnetby which will be a tough game but I know the lads can bounce back!

Onto the next we lose and win as a team UPTW ❤️🖤
