💙 YGA awards evening 2026💙

Our club manager Rick was shortlisted for 3 awards;
🥳 lifetime achievement award
🥳 volunteer of the year award
🥳 special recognition award

🏆 🙌🥳 Rick was the well deserved WINNER of the volunteer of the year award 🥳🙌🏆

Rick had dedicated his whole life to gymnastics, he started volunteering 40+ years ago along with his wife Gail at Brumby Gymnastics club. He volunteered every night of the week and all day Saturday’s whilst also being a full time electrician and site manager working 12+ hour days 5 days a week and then going straight to the gym, eating his tea there, having a quick body wash there and straight to coaching till 9pm. He started off as a parent helper and quickly progressed through all his coaching qualifications up to level 4 W/A.

Rick took over the club as Head coach for over 20 years and is now the clubs manager and trustee. Not only did he coach full time he did Pretty much every role in our small gymnastics club, admin, fundraising, grant writing, Social media, mentoring coaches, supporting BG apprentices, coaches courses, organising competitions, after school clubs, school PE Gymnatics Sessions the list can go on. As well as all that Rick has taken on multiple Voluntary roles within Yorkshire over the years, being Yorkshire’s squad director and recently the treasurer.

Still at over 70 Rick is attending the gym 5 days a week still Volunteering 25+ hours of his time, passing on his knowledge and guidance to our younger coaches and gymnasts. Without Rick and his wife Gail our club would not be what it is today, the hours they has given up and still continue to give up VOLUNTEERING is astonishing. The Children at the club absolutely adore Rick, from the tiny toddlers all the way to the adult gymnasts who he still coaches.

🥳💙 Yorkshire Gymnastics Awards Evening 2026💙🥳

🙌 Brumby Gymnastics Academy was shortlisted as MEDIUM CLUB OF THE YEAR 🙌

We are so grateful to have been nominated for this YGA award, our small but mighty volunteer based club provides quality gymnastics coaching for girls and boys, from pre-school groups to award scheme classes , 4 piece squad girls through to adult gym.

Our team consistently demonstrates excellence in coaching, athlete development, community engagement, and create a positive, inclusive environment for everyone.The dedicated coaches go above and beyond to provide high-quality training in a safe, encouraging atmosphere.

We are an inclusive club where friendships are formed ( there are adults who met through doing gymnastics at Brumby gym 40+ years ago who
are still friends now, and some of their children now attend our gym aswell!!).

What truly sets our club apart is its strong sense of community. Members encourage one another, with a positive can do attitude, they are so supportive of each other. We aren’t just a Gymnatics club we are family 💕

Our team work tirelessly to ensure the club continues to thrive, with 15+ volunteer coaches we truly are build by the community, for our community.

BGA have created an environment where gymnasts are inspired to work hard, support each other, and develop a lifelong love of gymnastics 💙🤸‍♀️

I have been teaching dance for over 30years in freestyle, hip hop, contemporary, and slow dance 💃 I also have done ballet, tap and modern and am a qualified dance judge which has taken me all over the country. I have also represented the UK in dance on TV, and auditioned for Flash Dance and made the final 3 out of thousands of people 🎉🎉

A big well done to our coaches who attended an in house Proficiency Coaching Course today, led by our Head Coach Marianne! 🤸‍♀️👏

Today’s course covered:

🎯 Fun warm-up & cool-down games – keeping sessions fun, engaging and energetic
🧠 Coaching styles – exploring different coaching approaches and adapting to our gymnasts
🤝 Supporting badge skills – developing confidence in supporting gymnasts through their badge skills and progressions

It was a fantastic morning of learning, sharing ideas and developing our coaching skills! 🌟

medium club of the year’ a Yorkshire Gymnastics Association Award 2026! 🏆🤸‍♀️

Being recognised at a county-wide level is a huge honour and is a wonderful reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion shown by our gymnasts, coaches, volunteers, staff and families every single day. 💙

This nomination is something the whole Brumby Gymnastics Academy family can celebrate! 🥰
