Another hot and sweaty night at the club, but as always the under 8s turned up and did not disappoint.
We focused on combinations tonight and for kids that are u8 they exceeded themselves.
Tonight, the two trophies were awarded to Dominic and Phoenix who had a tremendous battle with numerous throws. I think 9, but the pleasing thing was they were all that we had learnt that session.
Well done Dominic and Phoenix and everyone else including the ice-cream man at the end of both sessions.

Tonight's session was mainly spent in newaza , learning that judo is not all about throws and that you can get an Ippon by holding someone down. Kids were amazed how long I had to hold someone down back in my early years (30seconds).,😀
Great display from everyone and I was spoilt for choice on who to award this week's trophies to , everyone deserved it tonight.
But managed somehow to shorten it ,so well done to Phoenix and Jason 🥋👏

A massive congratulations to Hayes.
As we know Hayes got his final points for his Dan grade last weekend in Bath at The Western area Open along with a bronze medal.
It gave me great pleasure in presenting Hayes with his black belt last night.
Came to our club as an orange belt and progressed at a consistent pace through his grades over the years.
Always an honour for both judoka and club to achieve this level. and it is everyone's ambition that enters the dojo to wear that black belt.

Congratulations to Hayes today on gaining what every judokas sets out to do and that is his black belt.
Hayes travelled down to Bath this weekend to enter The Western Area Open.
He not only accumulated his remaining points for his black but won a bronze medal and some valuable ranking points.
Hayes has had the help of many clubs on his journey to Dan grade,
Big thankyou to all the clubs involved, EYJA where it all began, Grimsby JC where he is now a regular , Camberley JC where his big brother trains full time and of course all the coaches here at Scunthorpe JC, another black belt produced albeit with a little help.
Well done Hayes, so proud of you and a great achievement.🥋💪👏

We chose to do hold of the week instead of ippon of the week today and every time my eye caught Reuben he was holding someone. Well done Reuben, great groundwork.🥋💪👏

That was a hot one 🥵.
These kids never stop surprising me.
Temperature hitting the mid 30s in the dojo last night and still everyone gave their all.
Plenty of water on board and lots of fun is all that is needed, plus a visit from the ice cream man at the end of both sessions Stuart Logan , thankyou.
Everyone deserves an award but the chosen two were a very sweaty Jason and Louie.
Keep up the hard work, and always enjoy 🔥🥋🥵🍦
