🛡️ SAFEGUARDING OUR PLAYERS IS ALWAYS OUR PRIORITY ⚽💙
Sometimes the Welfare Officer might sound like a bit of a nag… 😅 DBS checks, safeguarding qualifications, checking volunteers, refreshing certificates, asking for paperwork (again!), but there is a very important reason behind it.
Every single child at Burton United deserves to be safe.
Recent news within grassroots football is a stark reminder of why safeguarding procedures, background checks and safer recruitment processes are so important. They aren't just boxes to tick, they are there to protect children.
At Burton United, we take the welfare and safeguarding of every child in our care extremely seriously. This includes ensuring our coaches have the appropriate checks and qualifications in place and carrying out the necessary checks for parent volunteers and anyone else who may have regular involvement with our players.
We are incredibly fortunate to have a fantastic group of coaches and volunteers who understand the importance of safeguarding and work with us to make sure Burton United remains a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place for children to play football, make friends and have fun. 💙⚽
A huge thank you to all our coaches and volunteers for taking safeguarding seriously and helping us keep the club running safely and smoothly. We know it feels like you are having to constantly undergo checks and complete certificates but we know you understand why we ask you to do this.
