💥 OUTDOOR TIMETABLE 💥
Commencing Saturday 4th July

Seriously we can't wait to launch outdoor gym activities!

Here's the key information:
- Members and non members are all welcome
- To book a class please message this page direct, bookings will not be taken from comments
- Social distancing guidelines will be strictly followed, the instructors will advise you with a pre-class briefing
- The building will NOT be accessible to any participants
- In extreme weather classes will not take place
- Any equipment used will be cleaned prior to and after use
- Bring your own water
- As identified in a previous post, cost per class is £1 - collected via a bucket

Basics to changing weight

I’ve seen so many posts recently about getting fit/strong/shredded at home by your current most popular fitness Instagram ‘guru’. They all prescribe the same 4 x 10 sets of the same body weight exercises and leave it at that for you to have a go at. Surprisingly these exercises don’t help and here’s why.

Changing weight isn’t to do with what exercises you are doing. It’s to do with your CALORIE balance at the end of the day. As the picture says:

IF YOU WANT TO GAIN WEIGHT CONSUME MORE CALORIES THAN YOU USE

Exercise is a way of training your body to move and make your life easier..not an excuse to eat more food.

There are so many free apps out there that can help you track your calories and help with your goals whether it is to gain or lose weight.

So today was my first run with my new weighted vest!! It was the best worst experience I’ve had in a while..very hard but enjoyable!!

There are many benefits to running with a weighted vest and is something I’m going to be doing a lot more of!!
-
Running with a weighted vest improves your muscular strength and endurance..adding extra weight increases the stress you put on the muscles which stimulates change just like when completing weight training in the gym.
-
Using the same principals it also increases cardiovascular endurance. It causes a stress on the muscles and the body meaning the heart has to work hard to supply the muscles with blood and in turn oxygen.

Finally, for many people the main aim of running is to burn calories. Someone who weighs more burns more calories so adding extra weight can help this process by again putting the body under the extra stress.

So a weighted vest is a key bit of kit when trying to get fit and lose weight..most vests can be adjusted in weight to help with a different variable for progressive overload!

We would like to make a statement to thank all members for the overwhelming level of support we have received, the gym is still operational and we are ensuring it is constantly getting cleaned and tidied to keep you guys safe and well.
Please continue to help us by washing your hands upon entering and exiting the gym. Cleaning down ALL equipment you use during your session with the blue roll and disinfectant spray provided and please do stay away from club if you are feeling unwell. If any of our members are unable to make it to the gym then the option to freeze is available so please do let us know.
We appreciate that exercise is a fabulous outlet and has huge benefits for mental health. With this in mind we will be using social media to share workouts with you if you cannot make it to club 😊

Isolation: good or bad?

As much as this is a weird time it could also be a great time to carry on/start on your fitness journey with no distractions...if in isolation or working from home it can give you time to get moving without the stress of going to work!!
-
Starting on a fitness journey is all about becoming more active and moving more..a gym can facilitate this but it can also be done many other places..the first key is to learn how to move your body! This could be simple things from walking and going up and down stairs all the way up to exercises like squats and press ups.
-
If you want to make a transformation or want some help with ideas for home workouts don’t be afraid to message or comment!! I offer coaching and plans which can be done remotely during this time as well as 1-1 sessions which can still be completed in the gym if you are able to still get out and about!!

Come down and give it a go!! Run by myself on a Monday and Drew on a Wednesday!!

If you have a New Years resolution to get into/back into/ or try a different type of fitness and you don’t start it in January..chances are you won’t start in February..so why not use the last few days of January to come down and join in with the ever growing group of bootcampers on a Monday and Wednesday night. We run group orientated sessions that will get you fit and build mental toughness but will also help you leave with a new group of friends that you can have a laugh with and leave with a smile on your face!! If you’re interested grab a friend and come down..we meet at 1845 in the pods overflow car park for a 1900 start..first session free!!

Progression time!!

Client progression: all clients still working well!! A few moving onto plyometric exercises and all still increasing the weight/reps. However, the biggest improvement has been in the kitchen..everyone has been a credit to themselves over Christmas and have kept on track and are keeping that going into the new year!!

My progress: I finally hit an 100kg bench..might not seem a lot but it was a massive goal for me last year after dislocating my shoulder again December 2018. This was one of my goals by the end of 2019 but unfortunately I didn’t get it..however 2 weeks later I did! So keep pushing and achieve your goals!!
