We had much warmth and sunshine today for our President’s Day but, it didn’t come from the sky above…..it came from all of our fantastic members who turned out to play.
We had 28 players competing today a record number for the club. President Eric and his lovely wife Sue opening proceedings with a wonderful welcome.
Our Pre-round got underway with five blocks continuing on the green. Stopping after a few hours to rest and fuel up from our amazing “Jacob’s Join” Thanks to the many members who were able to stay and watch, participate with marking and measuring through to the semi-finals and resulting in our final between Joe Davis and Richard Greenwood both with a start of 5 each on their card. They had both played exceptionally well throughout the day.
Richard finally winning to take the Presidents Cup 2026 to 21-8. Well done to both finalists.
Thanks always to Helen, Brenda and Kath our kitchen angels and their helpers - for all of their hard work.
To everyone who brought raffle prizes, food and donations.
After a closing speech from our President, a special bouquet was presented to both with thanks from the Club.

A super day at the club today playing for John Kellett Doubles Trophy.
Congratulations to all of our members for a grand turnout.
Many different pairings this year and a lot of very good bowling.
Resulting in a final of the following pairs:
Carole and Bob and
Helen and Cliff
The final score to our championship pair was 21-12 to Carole and Bob.
Well done to each of our finalists.
Thank you to Joe for organising our Competition and as always Helen and Kath for providing delicious cakes and scones, thank you both.
PS: we are all thinking of both Bill Hodgson and Steve Hart and wish them both a speedy recovery and to see them both back at home with their families x

It was a cloudy start to our weather this morning and then the heat kicked in, not only in the clear blue sky but also on the green today for those members who committed their time to play their best in a knock out competition (no handicap) for The Scorton Club Cup 2026.
The scores as shown were very unpredictable as was playing the green. Our Green as good as its looks dictated the play.
Resulting in the final between the reigning champion Joe Davis playing Ian Taylor. The final result was 21-8 to Ian.
Thanks to Kath for keeping everyone hydrated with a good cup of tea or coffee (cools you down quicker 😂) and to Joe for organising the competition and Ian Thompson - master of ceremonies.
