A lovely day yesterday at Scorton Bowling Club as they hosted The Woodplumpton League Presidents Day Competition.
Thanks to Linda for her superb organisation keeping the games flowing throughout the day with George the League President doing a sterling job welcoming all of the League playing members onto their starting block.
Many compliments were received for our groundsmen for a beautiful green. The day ended with a great final between Simon Hargreaves and Clive Brooks. The scores were close towards the end and it was a very good game to watch for all those who stayed to cheer them on. Runner up Simon and congrats to Clive.

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jim Clark, a long time member of Scorton Bowling Club. Jim mowed and looked after the green for many years never afraid of hard work. Jim was a very fine bowler Winning many trophies . He will be sadly missed from our scorton family. RIP

17 players today enjoyed a super time playing our Wm Gardner Club Cup this year at Whitechapel BC and with our family of Scorton supporters. There was plenty of banter on the green as always, together with some very good bowling from one and all. The weather held fine and before we knew it our two finalists Andy Sneddon and Bob Cowin were out on the green, after a good game from both a round of applause went to runner up Andy and congratulations to the winner Bob, another club cup this season going back to the Cowin household!
Thanks to our ladies for their superb baking and providing our refreshments and to Joe and Lynda for organising the Competition keeping us all on time as we all made our way from the green to The Cross Keys Inn for a sumptuous dinner together. Many thanks to Danny and the Staff for looking after everyone during our meal, and thank you to Whitechapel bc.

A smashing day on our green yesterday.

To all of our members who competed in the Wyresdale Cup, thanks to everyone who played and a huge shout out of thanks to our usual food suppliers who kept us all fed and watered throughout the day with delicious cakes 😋

PATTEN CUP 2026
This was a first….moving this club comp to the start of the season. What a day it turned out to be! The weather blessed us all, (well it’s Sunday 🙏🏻 ) chilly to start but as the sunshine smiled on us all so did the excitement of the games from our amazing members. As we all rested between games we filled up on the most delicious cakes that our wonderful ladies had baked especially for day, thank you ladies. 🙏🏻
The quarter finals were on us in no time, and members stayed on to cheer in the warm sunshine. Anticipation followed with the final and what a game! A running commentary from the clubhouse with a microphone would not have been amiss it was absolutely thrilling to a 20 across finish!!!!
Congratulations to our runners up Julie and Tony who put up a great performance and our winners: Gary and Richard 🏆
