Through to the final we went vs Bridge of Earn Over 35’s

Kenny Hynd opened the scoring after 5 mins with a well worked goal and an unstoppable strike into the bottom left corner. 7 mins later it was 2-0 and yet again it was Kenny Hynd who scored another well worked goal with some great build up play by Gary Crockatt & Adam Love.

Bridge Of Earn had to push further forward and created some great opportunities, however Kev Craik in the Scone goal made save after save and produced an incredible double save to keep the score at 2-0. Scone had more chances and went close on a few occasions

With 2 minutes remaining Bridge Of Earn did get there goal which left a potential nervous last few minutes. Kev Craik was proving to be a thorn in his opponents side as again he made another top save to keep Brig out.
With seconds left the game was wrapped up when a kick out from Kev Craik found Gareth Reddie through on goal and he calmly slotted the ball passed the onrushing keeper to end the match 3-1 winners and champions of the day.

Special thanks to Phil for inviting us and organising a very good tournament. To all the teams who made it a very competitive tournament and to all the people who came down to watch and support the teams. Finally thanks to the Tipsy Coo for the hospitality afterwards.

I’m sure a huge amount has been raised for 2 fantastic charities.

Fridays Match Report

We travelled to Falkland on what looked like a lovely evening for a game of football in a fantastic location. Once out in the warm up we discovered very quickly that the wind could cause some issues for both teams as the word ‘Blustery’ comes to mind.

We started to match with the wind with us and after a very quick start we won a few corners and on the second corner Anton Brown whipped in an incredible corner to which Craig Innes rose well to bullet his header into the top corner, 1-0 after 4mins. (Footage below)
After this we got sucked into trying to play long through balls which isn’t our style and majority of the time ran onto the keeper or way out of play. David Quinn did have an effort but he was stretching and was a comfortable save for the keeper.
On 20 mins we lost our captain Anton Brown to injury and with no defenders on the bench we had to jiggle a few things about.
On 28 mins, Falkland equalised. Slavk passing in midfield allowed the Falkland player to hit a strike from edge of the box into the bottom right hand corner. 1-1
Falkland then had another 2 good chances, one skiffing the bar and the other the attacker rushed his shot and went wide.

HT: 1-1

The second half shooting into the wind we felt we might get more joy in this half but frustrating this wasn’t to be the case. Although the effort and determination was there for all to see we just couldn’t get going at all and the game became very scrappy at times with not much good football on show. On 70 mins we did create one chance of note where a neat one two played Del Mathieson in and from wide left he fired a drive towards goal but unfortunately it went just over the bar.
On 75 mins Falkland got their second of the night which from our point of view could’ve been dealt with better.
The last 15 mins was uneventful with only a slight half chance fell to Kev Craik but his effort flew wide of the post.

FT - 2-1 to Falkland, who secured there first 3 points of the league cup campaign and who now top the group. (League Table below)

📜MATCH REPORT vs Bridge of Earn Over 35’s

Last night we travelled the short distance along the M90 to face Bridge of Earn in the first match of the Perthshire League Cup.

With our last match being nearly 4 months ago it was to be expected that the start of the match saw a few bits of sloppiness in the opening 5-10mins. That said we did have the bulk of the possession and a few half chances that just didn’t sit properly that led to easy stops from the BOE keeper. On 25 mins Brucey Andre had decent chance but couldn’t direct his header on target. 5 mins another half chance when a great ball over by debutant Charlie King found Gary Crockatt who place his pass onto the on rushing Brain Clark but again the ball just didn’t sit for him and his volley was a straightforward save for the keeper. Just after that Brig had by far the best chance of the game but their forward put it well wide of the post when it looked easier to score. Scone did create another few chances before the half ended with Alan Campbell looping shot went just over the bar and Brucey Andre again was out of luck with a shot come cross from out wide on the left.

HT 0-0

Discussion at HT were to change the tactics on how we were pressing our opponents and continue to keep the controlled passing going.

This seemed to have immediate impact. Great play down the left by Stuart Robertson & Brian Clark was then squared to Iain Nicoll who found Scott Merson who lobbed his shot into the top corner from 18 yards for us to take the lead. 5 mins later and it was 2-0. Great quick feet by Iain Nicoll then found Alan Campbell in the box and he beat a few defenders and then rounded the keeper to round off a very good goal for us.
The chances kept on coming and both Scott Merson, Brucey Andre and Gary Crockatt all went close to extending the lead. On 65 mins the game was over as a contest as Brian Clark broke free from the half way line and lobbed the keeper from a good 25 yards.
At the back Gary William & Anton Brown were winning everything in the air and gave our opponents next to no opportunities. With 20 mins to go Gareth Reddie made his long awaited debut. Shortly after his introduction we scored number 4 and this time Gary Crockatt was not to be denied as he intercepted a pass and surged forward and powered an unstoppable strike passed the keeper to round off a very good performance and victory to secure our first 3 points of the league cup campaign.

FT - 4-0
