After last weeks win against Hunmanby, our under 13’s looked to continue their fine start to the season as they welcomed Filey to Garth End Road.
The first ten minutes saw both teams create chances but it was Scholes that broke the deadlock when George Ferrey played a through ball for Harry Sample who kept his composure and placed the ball into the back of the opposition net. From here Scholes grew into the game and the goals came thick and fast.
George Ferrey with a quick brace, the second of his came from a pin point delivery from Travis Cook for George Ferrey to rise above the Filey defence and head the ball past the keeper for his first ever headed goal.
After this Ben Stagg found himself free in the box after a great piece of link up play with Archie Pratt to fire into the back of the net to make it 4-0. Another quick fire two from Tommy Macdermott and Ben Stagg saw the game end for half time at 6-0 after another two assists from in form Archie Pratt.
After the break Filey came out strong and had it not been some excellent defending from Charlie Anderson and Franco Poole and a great save from Oscar O’Brien, Filey might have found themselves on the score sheet.
Franco then found himself further forward in search of a goal himself but with the woodwork and the Filey keeper stopping the ball finding the back of the net.
Ben Stagg then turned provider after whipping numerous balls into the box and finding Hugo Thompson for his first of the game and George Ferrey to complete his hat-trick.
Another great ball into the box gave the Filey defender no option but to bundle the ball into his own net making it 9-0.
Archie Pratt then drifted passed several players and placed the ball into the far corner before Hugo Thompson got his second of the game from a tight angle and Ben Stagg scored late on for his hat-trick to round off the goals as the game finished 12-0.

Archie Pratt was named Player of the match for his 5 assists and work rate throughout. 👏🏼

Credit to Filey for never giving up and the coaches for their positivity throughout.

And they’re off!

The U10's started their season against a spirited Yorkshire Coast Blues playing some fantastic football whilst also communicating superbly with each other throughout the game with Elijah picking up both parents and coaches player of the match awards

Absolute scenes at McCains Sports field!

Scholes Park Raiders lost to the odd goal in 5 when Rawcliffe visited McCain's, but the score again did not reflect the balance of the game.

After a poor start with 2 easily avoidable goals conceded, SPR piled on the pressure with Ronnie striking the bar from 20 yards, Jack T stinging the goalkeeper's palms and countless corners.

From one of these, Jenson's pinpoint cross was converted with a far-post header from Sam. Shortly after, Jack Ts guided sidefoot finish was controversially ruled out for offside. HT 1-2.

Into the second-half, SPR had the majority of possession and made tactical, positional and personnel changes to breach the Rawcliffe defence.

With 15 minutes to go, a slide rule pass from Sam was fed perfectly into the path of Ronnie who calmly placed an 18-yard shot into the far corner for 2-2.

At that point, there was only one winner, with SPR winning the midfield battle, looking a real threat on corners and forcing Rawcliffe back. Riley showed great versatility, moving from midfield into a back 3 role, centre-back Lou continuing his great start to the season with another calm performance and Sam returning to form with strength, agility, a goal and an assist.

Indeed, Sam's cross-shot, dummied by Carlos, appeared to give SPR a 3-2 lead, but the referee disallowed the SPR goal for interfering with play, the second goal chalked off in the game.

With SPR pushing for the winner, a long ball forward found the forward in a duel with goalkeeper Oliver and the ball looped into the back of our net for a late Rawcliffe winner.

However, there was still time for late drama as SPR were awarded a penalty, but the keeper made a stunning save.

Under 11s kicking off the new season out at scalby today. Great team performance from all the players with some really nice passing moves and work rate from them all against an improved scalby side. Every member of the team played their part today and a great way to kick off the new season in our new octopus energy sponsored kit.

Can’t single one player out from today’s performance as everyone was on top form from first to last whistle.

Scholes Park Raiders U15s went down to a 3-1 opening-day defeat at Tadcaster today.
The result did not reflect the balance of play, with Tadcaster's goalkeeper performing heroics.
Scholes fell a goal behind in the first half and goalkeeping changes had a big impact at the start of the second-half when we conceded a penalty.
At 2-0 down, Scholes battled back with an instinctive finish from Jack Marshall. A late third for Tadcaster came after another sustained spell of Scholes pressure.

Without our regular goalkeeper, newcomer Jack Tucker played outstandingly in goal, then had key contributions outfield in the second-half. Huge plaudits also go to Lou Shannon for calm defending and helping the side in goal for the second-half. Harry McDermott also had an outstanding battling display in soaking wet conditions.

A fantastic morning of football for the new under 7s as they welcomed Whitby Fisherman for some 3v3 action.
Three pitches, all children involved and plenty of smiles on their faces. ☺️

⚽️💚 FRIENDLY GAME! 💚⚽️

We faced Scholes Park Raiders again today for another friendly, and it was brilliant to get the boys out there and enjoying their football! 👏⚽️

It’s honestly lovely to see the progress in our own team since this time last month. The improvement in confidence, teamwork, passing and overall understanding of the game is fantastic to see. 🥹💚

Every game, every training session and every experience is helping these boys grow — and we couldn’t be prouder of them! 👏

A huge thank you to Scholes Park Raiders for another great friendly and for giving the boys the opportunity to put everything they’ve been working on into practice. ⚽️💚
