Scarborough Parkour

Scarborough Parkour A page for all Free runners in the Scarborough area to find training, teachers, and inspiration.

Scarborough Parkour is a local enterprise created and run by Parkour enthusiast Ryan Holland. It is intended to create a safe enviroment for people of all ages to learn how to practice Parkour at any level of ability. Ryan Holland is a qualified and experienced Parkour coach who has been practicing the discipline since 2008. Starting his training in london in the height of the ever growing Freerun

ning community, participating in jams, expositions and shows. After three years he started teaching his own classes at dance schools and gymnastics gyms in West London. "When I first started there was no one to teach us the stuff we were trying to do. We were just throwing ourselves into it and hoping for the best." The team currently consists of Ryan Holland and Lewis Leighton, an old friend who has been training with Ryan from the beginning. Lewis is a classically trained gymnast turned Freerunner who brings vital technique and safe conditioning knowledge to the team. The two currently train weekly at Scarborough's local gymnastics gym, and are in the process of setting up a specialised Freerunning session there. So if you've always wanted to try Freerunning, are interested in learning the discipline, or would just like to throw yourself off buildings in a non-suicidal manor - Like this page and get jumping!

Was doing some research on the best Parkour gymnastics gyms, events and outdoor parks, and discovered that this is held roughly 15 minutes away from where I'm staying in Holland.

I suddenly feel bad that I'm here without the actual freerunners.
Anyone up for arranging a future trip?

cats are great role models for freerunners; precision, balance and fluidity. Even cats have off days. So don't get discouraged if you can't get something straight away. Don't get discouraged if you think you look silly. Sometimes you have to figure out how not to do something before you can make sense of it. So.. enjoy the funnies and get involved! Sunday 1 o'clock outside the brunswick centre. We will make sure we are easy to spot.

Just to clear some things up, correct me if I'm wrong ryan. We won't be holding any form of structured training sessions until we have enough interest. We will however be training ourselves around scarborough. Anyone who is interested give either myself or ryan a message and we will tell you where and when we will be. furthermore we will provide anyone that does come along with advice and impromptu training and conditioning (joining in with us). as stated previously, there is a gymnastics session between 7 and half 8 on Thursdays at Barrys lane in which we can practice tricking using the crash mats, trampoline, bars etc. though with half term and Christmas looming the gym may be closed, message for more info on that as well.
