🚨WEEKEND AND EVENING RESULT🚨

The tale of the two chases…

Saturday, we lost the toss, and bowled pretty well actually to start with with Boyle keeping it tight at one end and Big Jim at the other.
At 84-4 the Brompton tails were up until Fileys star man Yahya Chavoos started causing problems smashing a 60*.
Bowling and fielding became slack and the good start Brompton made had been undone as they found themselves with a chase of 208.
Yeah didn’t do it and collapsed 64 all out, let’s talk about Tuesday instead.

Everyone knows evening cricket is more fun anyway.

Brompton once again chasing a reasonable total of 119 after good knocks from Fairburn (29) and Dickens (18) but a target that surely was achievable this time…

At 14-3 it looked like a classic Brompton collapse…
Not on Harry Ice Cold Edwards watch, smashing a first half century for Brompton in just 38 balls ending on 61* he formed a brilliant partnership with the returning from his jollies Tom Fletch (20*) to see Brompton over the line with balls to spare and on track for survival sitting just above relegation!

No game next week for firsts so no collapse! 2s return to action at home against high flying Staxton after last weeks game was called off for poor weather at Ravenscar

🚨SECONDS RESULTS🚨

Double header against Brid at the weekend, league game first followed by a T20 game on Sunday.

Captain Pip lost the toss and we bowled first against a young but tough Brid side.
8 bowlers in action who all bowled well for few runs.
Benno picked up a wicket for just 14 runs while Tony also took a wicket for just 15 runs through 10 overs!
The mullet George Jackson continued his good bowling form collecting 3 alongside new signing Reece Wright who bowled superbly for few runs!
Dan Reardon took the ball for the first time of the season picking up 3 wickets to end Brids innings on 100/9.
Dan played another innings classily holding up the end for Brompton from the first ball with 37*
Captain Pip went for 35 to keep the runs ticking over before the other member of our new duo, Josh Grover saw out the innings on 26* as we finished on 103/2 after 25 overs to get back to winnings ways!

Sunday followed and another game against Brid, diferent format and totally different game, with the same result🙌
Brompton batted first this time with Jay Allison Wilson getting off to a flyer with 29 off 23 balls.
Chris Reddish hit a huge 6 then went for 11, good time not a long time as usual!
Things then leaked very bleak as the middle order totally collapsed, before the wise heads of Siddle (26) and Hulme (12) put together a fantastic partnership to drag Brompton over the line for 126.

Miller (25) got Brid going alongside Boyes (39) but the sniper-like accuracy from Benno ripped through the Brid batsmen as he took 5 wickets in just 3 overs. Pip and Tony chipped in with 2 a piece before Benno wrapped it up as things got tight at the end and Brid batted through their 20 overs for 122.

Into the next round and a brilliant weekend for the club🙌

🚨WEEKEND RESULT🚨

Firsts had an absolute belter of a game away at Thornton dale led from the front by captain fantastic Tom Fletch!

Thornton won the toss and elected to field, a decision they were made to regret as Tom opened and smashed a personal best of 173 continuing his amazing form. He did so hitting 30 boundaries and in just 121 balls.
Contribution of Sids (21) and Fin (32) helped the score grow whilst a first half century for Piet Rinke (65) helped Brompton reach 314/6 at the end of the innings.

With a high score in their sights Thornton got off to a decent start through Ellis (32) and Tompkinson (33) before wickets came. At 89-4 Brompton had their tails up but a great knock of 70 from Craggs kept Thornton alive. Man of the moment Rinke took his wicket alongside 3 others whilst Fin, Big Jim and Billy claimed 2 each to end Thorntons innings on 200.

A fantastic result in what looks to be a very tight league this season, we face in form Filey at home on Saturday!

🚨WEEKEND RESULTS🚨

Disappointing weekend for the firsts despite terrific individual efforts.

Fielding first at Ganton, first’s got off to a flyer through the fine bowling of Fin, Tom and Piet who took a fantastic 5 wickets in the game.
At 32-4 Brompton looked set for an early tea, before a great knock of 75 from F Bradley, and the tail end of Atkinson 36 and Cousins 49* to see Ganton end their innings on 213.
The leagues top run scorer and our captain Tom carried on his good form with a knock of 44 propping up the top of the order as others struggled. Ross was the only other significant scorer with a quick time 35* as Brompton fell short by 63 runs ending on 150.

Taking the bank holiday Monday trip up the Great Habton and hoping to bounce back, Brompton won the toss for once and went into bat.
Tom hit another terrific score of 63, whilst Jarv was back on form with a 28.
Piet knocked a classy 30 while Ross once again smashing the ball in every direction with a 42*including 4 massive sixes! The innings ended on 214.
On a very hot day Lumley spent 43 overs fielding and then 43 overs batting to his credit and was rewarded with an 85*.
Wickets came in quick succession following the first but it was too little too late as Richardson 21 joined Lumley to see out the innings and take victory on 219.

Disappointing but plenty of positives to take to Thornton Dale next weekend💪

🚨MATCH RESULT🚨

Disappointing day for the 2s and struggles with the bat continue.

Pip lost the toss and we went in to bat first, Sids managed to stay in and keep his end steady whilst we dropped like flies at the other end. At 35-3 it looked pretty bleak until Pip came in for a 36*, unfortunately no one managed to stay in with him for a decent spell and we found ourselves all out for 98.

A slight wobble at the start of the Snainton innings gave Brompton hope but Kipling refused to be beaten, and pretty much single handedly drove Snainton over the finish line alongside contributions from Nicholson and Stockill.

2s look to bounce back at home to Scarborough 2s this weekend💪

🚨MATCH RESULT🚨

Saturday saw the first’s host an unbeaten, top of the table Sherburn side in what turned out to be a real cracker!

Tommy lost the toss, shock, and was sent in to bat with fellow opener Hunter, the pair got off to a decent start before losing the first wicket at 48-1.
Then up steps the man of the moment, first class with bat and ball this season, Ben Jarvis.
Ben had an absolute worldie and really put a dampener on a high spirited Sherburn side smashing them all over on the way to his 104*. Jarv provided a solid ground for the first’s to push on from and kept the runs flowing hitting 15 boundaries along the way.
The middle order struggled to get off the mark until Harry Edward’s came in for his usual smash and grab with 24 off 15 balls to see out the innings on 216-7.

Sherburn top order struggled to make an impact against our inform college lads who took 4 early wickets to leave Sherburn 47-4. Young Billy added to his tally for the season taking one himself while Jarv also got in on the action.
A brilliant catch off his own bowling saw Harry Edward’s add to his weekly couple of wickets, whilst Cooper saw out the tail taking 2 himself to see Sherburn all out for 148.

A brilliant all round performance from the lads, Jarv in particular grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and adding his name into the history books with a superb ton!
