Three o’clock

Three o’clock. Cold concrete.
Steel barriers, p**s and rain.
Scarves pulled up like armour now,
same end, same ache, same pain.

Burnt pies, flat beer,
fingers numb before the kick.
We’ve paid again, we’ll pay again,
for hope that’s stubborn, thick.

Old lad beside me’s seen it all,
promotion, drop, the lot.
Says, “Enjoy the days you’ve got left, son —
this game gives more than not.”

Ref’s a joke. Keeper’s sh*te.
Centre-half’s lost his man.
Manager’s out of his depth again —
or so says every man.

We go behind, nobody leaves.
We never f***ing do.
Because walking out’s the easy bit,
standing’s what we’re used to.

Board goes up, four minutes shown.
It should be six at least.
One last ball, a scrappy goal,
or silence like a priest.

Win or lose, we’ll talk it raw,
chew it over, bleed it dry.
Then swear we’re done — until next week,
when we’re back. Don’t ask why.

We can confirm that our home fixture at Bridlington against Hereford will now take place on Tuesday 3rd March, 7.45pm kick off.

Originally to be played this evening, this fixture was postponed (again) due to the weather conditions.
