Hi all! 🙋‍♀️ Quick news update:

Although a shaky start weather-wise the summer months have arrived. 🤗

With holidays always affecting session numbers at this time of year, it’s worth a quick reminder that our Thursdays 4.30-5.30pm is a mixed session, with our Barons Gents invited to join us. Our matches with the walking sports men have always been great fun, so come along and get some practice in for the next one guys! 🏀

With Anna attending her course on Saturday, we now have a quartet of Netball England Hosts at Barons. Meeting like-minded people is always a bonus and Anna made more connections with clubs as far afield as Leeds. There’s great enthusiasm for a trip to Scarborough for a game — and, of course, fish and chips!

Next up - This year’s Walking Netball Charity Day at Hornsea on 4th July, organised by Abbie Morgan to raise funds for the Kingsmill Special School. It’s a fantastic cause, with more than 60 raffle prizes available; including a two-night stay at Pretty View Cottage, Seaton.

£1 a strip raffle tickets can be purchased on the day of the event or in advance by contacting Abbie Morgan on 07771 404543. It’s a win win great cause to take a punt on!

Hi all 🙋‍♀️

Here are a few happy snaps from Hutton Cranswick on Saturday, where some of our Baronesses enjoyed another fantastic England Netball event, organised by Olivia Parks and her team.

The day began with a coached session packed with great ideas for team warm-ups and interactive pre-match activities, followed by some enjoyable match play.

Our next outing will be to Hornsea for another fundraiser, organised by Abbie Morgan in support of Kingsmill Special School.

As we always emphasise, competitive play isn’t for everyone — it’s the fun, friendships, and support we share both on and off the court that matter most.

Hi all 🙋‍♀️
As we enjoy the May Bank Holiday weekend with it’s usual eclectic weather mix🌤️🌥️🌧️I wanted to share a few snaps from our recent “Grand Day Out” at the England Netball Centenary celebration at Hull University.

Olivia Parks and her fellow NDOs delivered a fantastic, fun-filled day of activities; including a chance to try the original 1926 version of the game!

Two more NE events are coming up soon ladies:
• Saturday 16th May at Hutton Cranswick (including a coaching session.)
• Saturday 4th July at Hornsea (a charity fundraiser.)

Not everyone wants to play competitively, and there’s zero pressure to do so. The fun we share at all levels, both on and off the court, is great for the body, mind and soul.

We’ve marched into Spring with a spring in our step count here at Barons walking netball.

This week we welcomed Hannah Sturdy; the England Netball NDO for North Yorkshire to our Friday session.

As with Hannah’s first visit we enjoyed her input to our session with some good coaching hints and tips and another Q&A about the England Netball partnership and what it can offer.

Under the partnership umbrella we have already enjoyed tournaments in Hull and Hornsea and some of us are now looking forward to the England Walking Netball Centenary Celebration on 24th April in Hull organised by their NDO Olivia Park.

Regular exercise is credited with many health benefits with stats proving it increases longevity and helps reduce many health risks linked with inactivity. Even better, higher levels of happiness are also evidenced which reduces depression, anxiety and boosts energy. Got to be good hey?!

The Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines is for 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week; eg brisk walking. Our three sessions of walking netball each week offers 240 minutes; how good is that! 🤩

The weather may have been a drainer but it continues to be sunshine all the way here at Barons Walking Netball.

This week our Thursday ladies hosted a friendly game with the Hornsea ladies we first met at their fundraising tournament in aid of Kings Mill Special School, Driffield.

A big thank you to Abbie Morgan for contacting us and what a great game and social we had with them this week; fun and high spirits all the way which AnneP. thankfully captured in her pics and videos.

Thanks also to Barons for a longer session time to host our meet up and Hartleys cafe bar’s staff for their great hospitality and service afterwards. ☕️🫖🍻🥂

We are looking forward to visiting the Hornsea ladies for a return match soon.

A great start to 2026 here at Barons walking netball.

Our page and posts have attracted many new players and already this year we have welcomed another member to our happy band after she contacted us via messenger.

Like several others, Pat hadn’t played since school, but soon found this was no barrier at all. Some of our members hadn’t ever played before - but they sure can now!

We’ve also opened our Thursday 4.30-5.30pm session to our Barons walking sports gents. Having played friendly matches against them, it’s guaranteed to be fun! Barons Fitness
