🏏 Our 1st Team ended the season with a rain affected draw at Seamer and Irton CC 2nds 🏏

Valley batted first after winning the toss, but were soon in trouble at 10 for 3 wickets from 3 overs. Dan Taylor (sponsored by IWE Services Electrical Contractors) led the recovery with a stunning century (104 in 54 balls, including 18 boundaries), sharing an excellent 142 runs partnership with Charlie Baldwin (56). Luke Calvert (24 not out, sponsored by S Eblet Ltd Plumbing Services) added late runs as we finished on 193 all out. Tom Pinder (4 for 18) bowled a fine spell for Seamer with Matty Walters (2 for 89), Ryan Mattimoe (1 for 8) and Gary Walters (1 for 48) also amongst the wickets.

Joe Tiffany (31) and David Graham (10) got Seamer off to a good start in reply. Jamie Haxby (29 not out) and Craig Baker (9 not out) kept the hosts on top of the run rate and in a strong position at 81 for 2 wickets from 18 overs, before play was halted for rain. With the rain persisting, both captains shook hands to draw an end to the season.

Well done to everyone who took part in yesterday's fun day. Fortunately the rain held off long enough for us to get through all our activities!

🏏 Our U9's and U11's started off with a well contested softball match followed by a game of rounders. It was great to see some of our parents and coaches joining in too! 🏏

🏏 The Parents v Juniors hardball game was a close contest with the Parents winning by just 6 runs. Jed Marley (22), Seb Richards (14) and Ben Fewster (13) top scored for the Junior team, with fielding highlights including excellent catches by Luca Bamfield and Jed Marley 🏏

🏏 Finally the President's XI v Chairman's XI T20 game saw a battling win for the Chairman's team by just 18 runs. Dan Taylor (29) and Luke Calvert (25) helped the Chairman's XI reach 107 all out, with Charlie Baldwin (3 for 9) and Steven Bates (2 for 9) amongst the wickets. Gary Gibson (25) and Steve Boyes (15) gave the President's XI some hope, but they finished short on 89 all out. Seb Richards (5 for 10), Jonny Duffill (2 for 1) and Jay Richards (2 for 6) picked up the bulk of the wickets 🏏

⏰ LAST DAY... from Chairs of clubs to junior coaches and groundskeepers to scorers, we're getting superb nominations about volunteers right across Yorkshire.

✍️ The Yorkshire Tea Community Cricket Awards end tonight (Monday 31) at midnight.

It's a very quick entry form to put someone forward. They might win boxes of Yorkshire Gold brews (lots) & a trophy - plus I'll interview them on the website. 😁.

Our 2nd Team made it 5 wins out of 5 with a superb team performance at home against 3rd placed Thornton Dale CC 2nds.

Jacob Carmichael (10) got some early runs on the board for the visitors, but Thornton Dale were soon in trouble at 18 for 3 wickets from 5 overs. Callum Walters (39) batted well to give Thornton Dale a platform to defend, finishing on 72 all out. Luca Bamfield (4 for 30), Aaron Kaya (2 for 9, sponsored by Supporting Choice Ltd) and Zach Lloyd (2 for 12) led the bowling stats for Valley and it was a tight fielding display all round, with Seb Richards claiming 2 catches behind the stumps.

Rob Bates (17) and Iestyn Jones (14) got Valley off to a decent start in reply but with the score at 32 for 3 wickets there was still work to do. Will Tindall (10) and Steve Boyes (14 not out) helped us reach the target, as we totalled 73 for 5 wickets. Aston Potter-Firth (2 for 7) bowled a tidy spell for Thornton Dale and there were wickets too for Robin Wood (1 for 11), Gary Newton (1 for 16) and Callum Walters (1 for 33).
